Sanders said Wasserman Schultz, a member of Congress from Florida, had made the right decision for the future of the Democratic Party. The four-day Democratic convention will open today. The emails angered many Sanders supporters who were already dismayed by Clinton’s choice on Friday of low-key US Senator Tim Kaine of Virginia as her vice-presidential running-mate. It’s a stunning fall for the tough-talking Florida representative who became the first woman elected to chair the DNC. Branding himself a “democratic socialist,” Sanders galvanized young and liberal voters with his calls to rein in Wall Street and eradicate income inequality.

“I think when you put all this together, it’s a disturbing picture and voters need to reflect on that.”Trump campaign officials rejected the suggestion as absurd. Although other experts remain sceptical of a Russian role, the hacking incident has caused alarm within the Clinton campaign and also in the national security arena. Monday, July 25, 2016 Clinton campaign points finger at Russia for controversyWASHINGTON — A top official with Hillary Clinton’s campaign yesterday accused the Russian government of orchestrating the release of damaging Democratic Party records in order to help the campaign of Republican Donald Trump — and some cyber security experts in the US and overseas agree. The extraordinary charge came as some national security officials have been growing increasingly concerned about possible efforts by Russia to meddle in the election, according to several individuals familiar with the situation. Beyond Mook, DNC and Clinton campaign officials have not responded to requests for comment since Firday as reporters and unnerved campaign staff tried to assess the damage caused by the release, which comes just as the party holds a nominating convention in Philadelphia designed to project unity after a bitter primary season.

The tug of war has also been accompanied by a rollback on how the AFI can manage its confidential funds. Prosecutors are one of the parties in investigations,” said Justice Minister Germán Garavano when the transfer was announced. “Several judges have complained about the way the wiretaps are conducted and it is true that only judges can order to invade someone’s privacy, not prosecutors. Prosecutor Cristina Caamaño had been in charge of the office located on Los Incas Avenue for just shy of six months when the DNU was signed. “It will definitively not be the same as having (former SI Operations Chief Antonio “Jaime”) Stiuso.

A total of 220 million Latin Americans are considered “vulnerable” to shocks, of which 15.7 million are in Argentina. 36 percent of population considered ‘vulnerable’ Friday, July 22, 2016 UNDP: up to two million Argentines risk falling back into povertyThe Argentine government and the United Nations Development Programme put pen to paper on a plan of action on sustainable development for the period of 2016 to 2020 signed to counter the threat of between 1.5 million and two million Argentines falling back into poverty. As such, the UNDP has also noted that poverty be considered on a multi-dimensional basis and not solely in terms of income. The UNDP has warned that between 25 and 30 million Latin Americans who escaped poverty in the last decade could fall back again in light of stagnating or backwards growth in the region, a phenomenon that also includes Argentina. That figure amounts to about 36 percent of the population who could face difficulties in the case of events like sudden illness or natural disasters.

Signs held aloft by health workers on pickets featured slogans lamenting the effects of the security crisis on health workers. The union leader said that health workers from “almost 100 percent” of hospitals in the capital had participated in the strike and that emergency services throughout the City had continued to operate as normal. Employees say they face constant threats of harassment while at work Friday, July 22, 2016 Workers at BA City hospitals go on strike over lack of securityMedical staff from over 30 hospitals in Buenos Aires City staged a 24-hour strike yesterday in protest at the lack of action over ongoing security issues at hospitals throughout the Argentine capital, with many medical employees saying they face the consistent threat of harassment and insufficient security while at work. Speaking during a radio interview, one striking doctor —Jorge Gilardi — said that the situation was so serious that it impeded safe practice at hospitals and was putting medical staff at severe risk along with their patients. Gilardi was one of many health service union leaders to call for the reintroduction of police officers in hospitals to guarantee staff and patient safety, arguing that their replacement with private security firm employees under former BA City mayor and President Mauricio Macri in 2011 had failed hospitals, health workers and patients alike.

Friday, July 22, 2016 Prosecutor: natural gas rates cap not enoughA La Plata prosecutor yesterday asked for the courts to suspend the 400-percent cap recently introduced by the Macri administration on natural gas price increases nationwide, on the basis that no public hearings were carried out before the measure was implemented. A group of activist organizations carried out a protest in Neuquén city centre in order to show their opposition to the increase on natural gas rates. They marched to the headquarters of Camuzzi, a natural gas distributor, and delivered a document explaining their rejection to the measure. “If the previous measures by the government were considered void because of not having conducted out a public hearings, the same criteria has to be applied on the cap on natural gas rates,” prosecutor Ana Miriam Russo said yesterday. Meanwhile, the government told utility customers who received natural gas bills with increases surpassing the 400-percent mark not to pay them and instead wait for re-billing.

Friday, July 22, 2016 Uruguay state-owned oil firm faces probeProsecutor launches investigation after opposition complaints over mismanagement at ANCAPUruguay’s state-owned energy firm ANCAP faces legal trouble after the country’s courts launched an investigation into alleged legal violations, María de los Ángeles Camiño, a state prosecutor focused on organized crime, said yesterday. The opposition argues that between 2011 and 2014 the firm lost US$600 million, and part of those losses might be explained by the mishandling of funds. Big lossesANCAP holds a monopoly over oil refining and distrubition in Uruguay, yet lost US$198 million in 2015. Camiño asked for details on ANCAP’s officials during that period and for experts to produce a report on the state of the firm. The case comes after a similar investigation in Uruguay’s Congress concluded that “no irregularities were committed” at ANCAP.

However, when Ojeda entered the convent he was surprised that the nuns were OK.“The nuns didn’t seem nervous, they were calm ... and one of them scowled at me,” Ojeda recalled. Today, Rafecas will continue taking testimony from two of the nuns, Sister María and Sister Marcela, who lived in the convent and helped López carry the bags inside. The fourth nun who lives in the convent, 95-year-old sister Alba, will not give testimony due to ill-health. García also played down the importance of photos that López had taken of himself inside the convent. It was then that he decided to call 911, and 15 minutes later a police patrol car arrived at the convent.
