Thursday, August 11, 2016 Wrong case in the wrong handsIf in 2004 Néstor Kirchner appointed prosecutor Alberto Nisman as head of a special unit to clarify the 1994 AMIA Jewish community centre terrorist bombing, the passage of time has only increased the distance from any such clarification — after sending the investigation down the wrong track with the revival of Nisman’s complaint, the case is now falling into the wrong hands. Bonadio was removed from the case on these grounds in 2005 while five years later Nisman himself accused him of hampering the investigation. Yet Bonadio is the last of the available magistrates who should be handling this case. Since then, Palmaghini has managed the case almost all the time. All specific objections, quite apart from all the general doubts which might arise from Bonadio’s record.
