Russia says U.S. ‘adding fuel to the fire’ by sending rockets to UkraineRussia on Wednesday sharply criticised a U.S. decision to supply advanced rocket systems and munitions to Ukraine, warning of an increased risk of direct confrontation with Washington. Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov told reporters: “We believe that the United States is purposefully and diligently adding fuel to the fire.”When asked how Russia would respond if Ukraine used U.S.-supplied rockets to strike Russian territory, Peskov said: “Let’s not talk about worst-case scenarios”. Washington agreed to supply the rockets, which are capable of hitting targets as far away as 80 km (50 miles), after Ukraine gave “assurances” they will not use the missiles to strike inside Russia itself, senior U.S. officials said. Ukrainian officials have been asking allies for longer-range missile systems that can fire a barrage of rockets hundreds of miles away, in the hopes of turning the tide of the war. The approach lights on the runway of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, have gone off, forcing pilots to depend solely on equipment onboard their aircraft to land, findings by The PUNCH have revealed. According to him, the approach lights assist pilots in landing on the runway. Last year, some parts of the runway lights at the MMIA collapsed, forcing British Airways to divert its flight to the Abuja airport. The unserviceable state of the runway lights made it impossible for BA, which flies a large plane, to land at the Lagos airport at night. During the temporary shutdown of the runway, international flights were prevented from landing and taking off from the airport’s international terminal.

Giorgio Chiellini believes it will be “beautiful” to end his international career against Argentina at Wembley on Wednesday after leading Italy to Euro 2020 glory at the London ground last year. Now the Azzurri face the South American continental champions in the inaugural Finalissima at Wembley on Wednesday, a match where Chiellini is set to win his 117th and last cap. Italy manager Roberto Mancini is likely to include a number of his Euro 2020 stars in the starting XI for a match he has said represents the “end of a cycle” following the shock failure of the four-time winners to qualify for this year’s World Cup finals in Qatar. Chiellini, asked about ending his international career against Argentina, told UEFA.com: “It’s beautiful. “But then football puts you in front of reality and in reality you can’t rely on your memories.

In his classic work, The Republic, Plato wants politics and democracy to be run by those he calls the experts, the enlightened and the “guardian”. To Plato, politics is not for the unruly populace and creatures of appetite. Presidential aspirant Peter Obi easily fits into the mold of Plato’s guardian. Peter Obi teaches that there is a convergence between politics and morality. Unfortunately the Nigerian democracy is severely challenged from within by corruption, ignorance, apathy, pursuit of selfish interests.

This article reviews the constitutional underpinnings of policing powers, reviews the arguments for and against decentralisation, policing models in progressive democratic countries operating federal models, and advances the case for devolution of police powers in Nigeria. Also, checks and balances on police powers at state level, are regulated by constitutionally protected rights for individuals’ civil liberties. a constitutional amendment removing Policing powers from the federal exclusive legislative list and affording Governors full powers to run State police forces, whilst working collaboratively, with federal security agencies; 2.) As a result of threat due to ever-increasing expansion of terrorists and their nefarious activities, the US deemed it necessary to announce on September 10, 2014, the formation of a broad international coalition to defeat the ISIS. Members of the coalition comprised 85 states and other host of international organisations who joined to offer their quotas of contribution towards dousing the tension. The U.S. emphasises that there is a role for every country to play in degrading and defeating ISIS. The effort to degrade and ultimately defeat ISIS will require reinforcing multiple lines of effort, including preventing the flow of funds and fighters to ISIS, and exposing its true nature. At the birth of the coalition, five mutually reinforcing lines of effort to degrade and defeat ISIS were put forth at an early September 2014 meeting with NATO counterparts.

Telecoms company BT and Ericsson (BS: ERICAs) have struck a multi-million-pound partnership to offer private 5G networks to businesses across Britain, enabling them to deploy the Internet of Things and other technologies quickly and securely. Private 5G networks mirror public 5G, but connectivity is limited to a group of devices in a dedicated space, such as a factory, a port or a campus, where 5G’s security and ultra-low latency can be fully utilised in additional services. The partners have already worked together on several major projects incorporating private 5G networks, including Belfast Harbour in Northern Ireland. They have installed a 5G private network across 35 acres of operational port, driving operational efficiencies and optimising processes across transport, logistics, supply chain and shipping, he said. So, it goes down to one thing that we have a leadership problem. Now, if you address that leadership problem, then, you have solved all our problems. You don’t need divine intervention to clean your room if you have a broom. What is your take on rule of law in this country, given that you are a lawyer. So when they say, for example, a certain president is helping the rule of law, you don’t have rule of law, because rule of law is not the party manifesto.

This does not include manufacturers’ expenditure on power coming from electricity distribution companies, popularly known as DisCos. It was gathered that some manufacturers only make use of DisCos in offices but use alternative power sources in the production department. Manufacturers who can afford gas at their own facilities are using it to power their production activities. But in other areas where you do not find gas, people are using other energy sources and some still use DisCos,” he said. He explained that power expenditure of SMEs were becoming very high.
