A member of Iran’s security forces has been shot dead during protests in the city of Semirom, state media said Sunday, more than 100 days after Mahsa Amini’s death sparked nationwide unrest. “Security forces were deployed to establish order in the city and, in some cases, clashes occurred with several rioters,” the report said. Iranian officials say hundreds of people have been killed in the nationwide unrest, including members of the security forces, and thousands arrested. Last month, Iran executed two men, both 23, who had been convicted of attacks against security forces in connection with the protests. Campaigners said this week dozens of protesters also face charges that carry a potential death sentence.

The 37-year-old Portugal captain is a free agent after leaving Manchester United following a controversial interview in which he criticised the club. Al Nassr, nine-time Saudi Pro League champions, described the signing of former Real Madrid star as “history in the making”. The club said it would “inspire our league, nation and future generations to be the best version of themselves.”In the summer, Ronaldo turned down a £305m deal to join another Saudi team — Al Hilal — because he was happy at United. Ronaldo, who scored 145 goals in 346 appearances for United, left Juventus to rejoin the Old Trafford club in August 2021 — 11 years after he departed to join Real Madrid.

The Force Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, said this during an interview on Channels Television. He said, “The officer is an ASP, he is not an Inspector and you can not just recommend his suspension. There is a procedure to follow and the number one procedure is for the Inspector-General of Police to recommend to the Police Service Commission that this officer should be suspended. The officer is in detention and I think by now, we should have received the interim from the Lagos Police Command. They do not need to come to the IG level or the Service Commission level because there is no ASP involved in that particular incident.
