It disclosed this in a document obtained by our correspondent from the ministry in Abuja, which was put together by the ministry’s Department of Rural Development. The agric ministry also revealed that it constructed rural roads during the period under review, a task that is majorly undertaken by the Federal Ministry of Works and Housing. The document read in part, “From 2016 to 2022, under Capital Appropriation, Constituency and intervention funds for the implementation of the rural infrastructure projects, the department constructed 1,583.2km rural roads. To clear concerns on why the agric ministry got involved in power, works and water projects, which should be handled by the Federal Ministries of Power, Works and Water Resources, the FMARD explained that the delivered facilities were not outside the mandate of its rural development department. It named the infrastructures to include the construction and rehabilitation of rural feeder roads, boreholes, mini water treatment plants, and provision of solar-powered and conventional electricity.

As we near the end of 2022, there is a need for introspection and a re-strategising for the new year. And that brings us to the topic of ‘devils’ that might have impacted us in the outgoing year. Those flies that spoil the ointment, the challenges that make us bristle or cause self doubts. These ‘devils’ can manifest even in relatives, friends, colleagues or others. These ‘devils’ are simply calling on the strength in you, pointing out a weakness that you need to work on.

on leadership as the main challenge to Nigeria’s development without paying attention to followers as being partly responsible for this. After selling eight ‘cups’ of grains as ten, what moral right do such a person have to criticise government? Nevertheless, it is worth mentioning that those running Nigeria aground are not investing in things that generate wealth here! It is so pathetic that many potential employers of labour have decided to not venture into legitimate businesses in Nigeria. The foregoing is contributory to an interwoven and knotty underdevelopment network requiring solutions from a new leadership cadre that can positively disrupt the status quo represented by the aforementioned predatory super-structure.

But in addition to NECO and WAEC, there are other exams such as IELTS, TOEFL, SAT and GMAT. The governors, architects, lawyers, doctors and teachers who abound in Nigeria and occupy strategic positions in life, all would have passed their WAEC or NECO exams. In Edo State, the governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, initiated a series of ‘reforms’ after taking office as governor. To carry out these ‘reforms’, Obaseki closed most of the schools: colleges of education, schools of nursing and agriculture and the like. THE current hitch in the supply of Premium Motor Spirit (petrol) across the country is scandalous. As Africa’s largest crude oil producer, many months of fuel scarcity, especially during the Christmas and New Year festivities, reflects the dysfunction in Nigeria’s public administration and the economy. But this is not new, as petrol shortages have been recurring for over three decades. Scarcity resurfaced about four months ago, and has defied all logic and solutions. It deducted funds meant to be remitted to the Federation Account to cover petrol subsidy in the seven straight months to September 2022.

The report partly read, “Rising inflation is weighing on economic activity in Sub-Sahara. The report read further, “The escalation of the war has fueled a rise in commodity prices, particularly food and energy prices. It added that sluggish growth, low human capital, labor market weaknesses, and exposure to shocks are holding Nigeria’s poverty reduction back. The figure represents a significant jump from the World Bank’s projection earlier this year, which placed 95m Nigerians under the poverty line.
