Alistair Jamison, relatively newly appointed CEO of the Radio Broadcasters Association (RBA) discusses why he believes audio has a bright future. The success of audio in Aotearoa will be directly linked to advertisers and agencies understanding the audio landscape and the many strengths audio has to draw on. The one thing that is universal across all that kōrero is a passion for and belief in a bright future for the audio industry. Over time that has changed and I believe the range of audio advertising strengths gives audio unparalleled options for advertisers. I suspect the same is the case here in Aotearoa, but I believe with a strong and consistent audio industry narrative that this perception gap can be closed and the future for the commercial audio industry is very bright.

Wednesday’s Rugby News 24/05/2023Today’s Rugby News has Hooper considering his post-Super options, Cron encouraging Folau Fainga’a to ease back on the BS, Aaron Mauger to step down from coaching Moana Pasifika and NZ Sevens players accused of “gamesmanship”. Hooper to play last Super game in Sydney next weekThe SMH reports that 31 year old Michael Hooper is nearing the end of a five year contract and has informed NSW Rugby he will not be continuing in Super Rugby. That means the Waratahs’ tight clash with Moana Pasifika on Saturday week at Allianz Stadium is almost certainly Hooper’s last game at home. He also took a series of light-hearted pot shots at individuals within the Brumbies’ team. Mauger has been with Moana Pasifika since the club’s 2022 Super Rugby debut, but has decided to step down from the role to prioritise his family.

Sustainable FuturePolarising carbon capture tech back on NZ radarThe energy sector wants the Government to urgently introduce regulations enabling carbon capture and storage in New Zealand, as a way to cut CO2 emissions. But there’s so much potential in there.”Moving onto Government’s radarSo, where is the Government on the issue of carbon capture and storage? It’s widely believed that wind and solar power can achieve this. Solar power disappears completely every night and drops by 50 per cent or more during cloudy days. This brings with it a new operating regime where stations that were designed to operate continuously have to follow unpredictable fluctuations in wind and solar power. For every MW of wind or solar power in California, $120 million would need to be spent on storage. But if we had 100 per cent nuclear backup for solar and wind, we wouldn’t need the wind and solar plants at all.
