The 'hard yards' are underway in the debt limit negotiations. If there is a downside, PCE inflation is hovering around the +5% pa mark and not retreating much yet. Rising economic activity however is making the US trade balance higher as it raises the demand for all goods including imported goods. Their key 2-10 yield curve is more inverted at -80 bps which is more than the -59 bps a week ago. The bitcoin price is a little higher today, now at US$26,775 and up +1.6% from yesterday.

However, Labour says the figures are conservative, because they are based on the current rates of superannuation rather than future increases. “I don’t think this is going to be a big-spending election campaign. I don’t think that’s where the heads of the voters are at. I don’t think they’re looking for big-spending election promises, so I don’t think that’s going to be the flavour of the campaign.”He said it would not be the same as Ardern’s big-stage speeches: “We are very different personality types. “That’s something I think really does sharpen people’s focus and I guess in light of the cost of living and post-Covid times, it’s quite clear the challenges we’re facing.

A Californian doctor who left the country after allegedly causing a head-on crash that injured a Queenstown woman can finally be named. Raman Sidhar (73) was charged with dangerous driving causing injury to Sara Duan after the Frankton Rd crash on January 27 this year. They were stranded there for two days due to weather-related disruption to flights before returning to the United States. At the third call of his case on May 8, the court was told Sidhar had dismissed his Queenstown lawyer and had declined to participate in restorative justice. Police have indicated they will amend the charge to aggravated careless driving causing injury.

Smaller studios stand a better chance of having their games discovered and achieving success, and those studios can come from anywhere in the world. Fruit Ninja is one of the most addictive mobile games everHere’s a game that involves swiping the screen with your finger to slice fruit. Fruit Ninja was the first title from Brisbane-based Halfbrick studio to achieve mass appeal – and when we say mass appeal, we are not kidding. With Fruit Ninja still flying out of the download stores, they followed it up less than a year later with Jetpack Joyride. The game is as crazy as it sounds, and has almost as many downloads as Fruit Ninja.

By Sean Rush & Katharine Moody*The government could be said to be ‘screwing the scrum’ by ignoring the most recent findings of the IPCC, (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change), and persisting in using extreme climate change projections. So, what advantage is being gained by inflating sea-level rise and other climate change effects to the extent of implausibility? The research communityCentral government has poured plenty of money into research into climate change, for example: here, here, and here. Some would say MFE is going well beyond that into advocacy, supporting these exaggerated positions on climate change. ‘Screwing the scrum’ with the use of unlikely and implausible climate change scenarios (SSP5-8.5 and 8.5H+) needs to be yellow carded.

THE RACISM experienced by Australian writer Louisa Lim raises questions about the persistence of racism in Aotearoa-New Zealand. Nothing intensifies racism more dramatically than the exploiters discovering racism is no longer profitable. At that point, the utility of the existing ethnic hierarchy is fundamentally compromised. The unabashed racism visible on social media, however, hints that, deep down, not much had changed since Brash’s near-victory in 2005. The political and cultural elites, to whom the prosecution of the anti-racist cause has been entrusted, are becoming increasingly defensive.

I think it is highly unlikely now that National can win the 2023 election. If we look at John Key 180 days out from each of his elections, National was beating Labour by double digits, under Luxon, National are beating Labour by 2 points. Will the Class Left do that for the Greens this election as the Greens barely mange to poll above their 2020 result? NATIONAL and ACT: National are 2 points ahead and ACT peaked out. The policy difference between Labour and the Greens is almost 90% the same, but the policy difference between National and ACT are light years apart.
