DMK’s offer of 25 seats not acceptable, says Congress leader
The AICC in-charge for Tamil Nadu and head of the party’s seat-sharing negotiation committee for the upcoming Assembly election, Girish Chodankar, on Sunday said the 25 seats offered by the DMK to the Congress was not acceptable. According to him, the committee is following the lead of the Tamil Nadu Congress leaders, who met party leader Rahul Gandhi in New Delhi recently. Mr. Chodankar said he hoped the party’s wish list, submitted to the DMK, would be accepted, as “only then we can continue with this (negotiations)”. Missing warmthMeanwhile, the “brotherly warmth” appeared to be missing in Mr. Gandhi’s birthday greetings to DMK leader and Chief Minister M.K. Last year, in a social media post, Mr. Gandhi had addressed Mr. Stalin as “my brother”, and the latter had thanked his “dear brother”.

LPG supply concern, disruption in petro product shipments to hit bigger import bills

Precious metals recover from early February lows
The precious metal price staged a recovery off the lows recorded in early February. West Asia crisis: 350 international flights cancelled across country due to operational disruptions
Around 350 international flights were cancelled on Sunday across the country as global aviation faced operational disruptions because of the West Asia crisis. According to flightradar24, a flight-tracking platform, more than 3,400 flights have been cancelled on Sunday across seven airports in West Asia, including Dubai, Doha, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah and Kuwait, as many airspaces remain closed for security reasons. ADVERTISEMENT“In view of airspace restrictions arising from geopolitical developments in West Asia, a total of 350 flights operated by Indian domestic carriers have been cancelled on Sunday,” the civil aviation ministry said. The ministry posted on X that a total of 410 Indian flights had been cancelled on Saturday after many West Asian countries shut down their airspace when tensions escalated between Iran and Israel. Preterm births linked to extreme heat and cold, study ambit: Indo-Gangetic plains
Multiple earlier studies in the US, Australia and other countries have documented higher preterm birth rates following heat waves. Researchers say extreme heat can reduce placental blood flow, cause dehydration and trigger inflammatory responses that increase the risk of early labour. Extreme heat has also been associated with the premature rupture of membranes. “But the increased risk of preterm births from exposure to cold temperatures was unexpected,” Dutta said. Winters in the Indo-Gangetic plains are relatively mild and similar strong links between preterm birth and extreme cold have not consistently emerged from much colder regions such as northern Europe or Siberia.
