Three killed, two injured in shooting near University of Cincinnati campus: Police
Five people were shot, including three fatally, near the University of Cincinnati campus early Monday, police said. Two people were taken into custody, including one of the wounded. ADVERTISEMENTEarlier, the university's public safety department posted on the social platform X that police were responding to an emergency shortly before 3 am. The department later posted it was a shooting and said: “Be observant/take action as needed.”About an hour later, the department issued an “all clear” message and said “police will maintain heavy presence”. शेफ बनने का सपना देखने वाली मनप्रीत कौर 20 जून को मेलबर्न से दिल्ली के लिए उड़ान भरने के लिए तैयार विमान में सवार हुई थी। मनप्रीत की विमान ही मौत हो गई। उस दौरान फ्लाइट जमीन पर ही था।पीटीआई, नई दिल्ली। मेलबर्न (ऑस्ट्रेलिया) से नई दिल्ली जा रही क्वांटास की फ्लाइट में एक भारतीय युवती की मौत हो गई। वह 24 वर्ष की थी। मीडिया रिपोर्ट में सामने आया है कि उसे कोई बीमारी थी। वह अपने माता-पिता से मिलने आ रही थी, जिनसे वह ऑस्ट्रेलिया जाने के बाद से कभी नहीं मिली थी।एयरपोर्ट पहुंचने से पहले थोड़ी तबीयत हुई खराबयुवती ने एयरपोर्ट पहुंचने से पहले अस्वस्थ महसूस किया था। लेकिन वह बिना किसी परेशानी के विमान में सवार हो गई थी।मार्च 2020 में ऑस्ट्रेलिया पढ़ने पहुंचीमनप्रीत के दोस्त गुरदीप ग्रेवाल ने बताया कि वह मार्च 2020 में ऑस्ट्रेलिया आने के बाद पहली बार अपने माता-पिता से मिलने भारत जा रही थी। युवती जब विमान में सीटबेल्ट लगा रही थी तभी फर्श पर गिर गई। फ्लाइट में ही इस दौरान उसकी मौके पर मौत हो गई।उड़ान भरने वाला था विमानमेलबर्न में उस दौरान विमान गेट से जुड़ा खड़ा था। केबिन क्रू और इमरजेंसी (आपातकालीन) सेवा उनकी मदद के लिए दौड़ी, लेकिन उशकी मौत हो गई थी। उड़ान शुरू होने से ठीक पहले ही यह घटना हुी थी।इस बीमारी से मौत की संभावनाऐसा माना जा रहा है कि मनप्रीत कौर की मौत तपेदिक से हुई है। यह एक संक्रामक बीमारी है, जो ज्यादातर फेफड़ों को प्रभावित करती है। मनप्रीत के रूममेट कुलदीप ने कहा कि उसने ऑस्ट्रेलिया पोस्ट में काम किया था और पढ़ाई करते हुए शेफ बनने का सपना देखा था।ये भी पढ़ें- Delhi Airport Incident: टर्मिनल-2 और 3 पर यात्रियों की लंबी कतारें, दिल्ली एयरपोर्ट पर मंडरा सकते हैं परेशानी के बादलदोस्त ने क्या कहादोस्त ने बताया कि वह बहुत ही दयालु और ईमानदार थी। उसे विक्टोरिया में अपने दोस्तों के साथ घूमना बहुत पसंद था। मनप्रीत के परिवार के लिए GoFundMe पेज बनाया गया है। हमारी प्यारी दोस्त मनप्रीत हमें बहुत जल्दी छोड़कर चली गई, जिससे हमारे जीवन में एक खालीपन आ गया है, जिसे कभी नहीं भरा जा सकता। उसने यह पेज पर लिखा है।क्वांटास के प्रवक्ता ने news.com.au पोर्टल को बताया कि उनकी संवेदनाएं उनके परिवार और प्रियजनों के साथ हैं।

'नए आपराधिक कानून को किया गया मनमाने ढंग से लागू, यह एक तुगलकी फरमान', संजय सिंह का केंद्र सरकार पर हमला
जागरण संवाददाता, नई दिल्ली। सोमवार यानी एक जुलाई से देशभर में तीन नए आपराधिक कानून लागू हो गए हैं, जिसके कारण अब कानून की कई धाराओं में परिवर्तन किया गया है। हालांकि देशभर में इन नए कानूनों का काफी विरोध हो रहा है। पूरा विपक्ष इसे आनन-फानन में लाया गया कानून बता रहा है। वहीं आम आदमी पार्टी के राज्यसभा सांसद ने भी नए कानून को लेकर केंद्र सरकार पर हमला बोला है।संजय सिंह ने कहा, "जो लोग इन आपराधिक कानूनों से प्रभावित हो सकते हैं, BJP सरकार ने उन लोगों से बात किए बिना ही मनमाने ढंग से इन कानूनों को बनाया है। ये एक 'तुगलकी फरमान' है जो आज से पूरे देश में लागू हो रहा है।" उन्होंने कहा कि इस सरकार का रवैया शुरू के ही बिना आम सहमति बनाए किसी भी कानून को लागू करने का रहा है।

IISc Researchers Develop Engineered Biocatalyst for Sustainable Biofuel Production : Chemical Industry Digest
The IISc notes that due to the limited availability and environmental impact of fossil fuels, there is growing interest in sustainable fuel pathways involving hydrocarbons. In prior research, the IISc team isolated and characterized an enzyme named UndB, found in the membranes of certain bacterial cells, which converts fatty acids to 1-alkenes at an unprecedented rate. Under optimal conditions, these E. coli bacteria act as whole-cell biocatalysts, converting fatty acids into 1-alkenes. The biocatalyst demonstrated the ability to convert a variety of fatty acids with different carbon chain types into 1-alkenes and also produced styrene, which is crucial in chemical and polymer industries. As reported by thehindu.com, the team has applied for a patent for their engineered protein and whole-cell biocatalyst and is seeking industry partners to scale up the platform for large-scale production.

The NEET-UG exam (National Eligibility-Cum Entrance Test) was conducted on May 5, across 4,750 centers, with nearly 24 lakh candidates appearing for it. The results that were out on June 4 raised eyebrows due to discrepancies and allegations of paper leak. On June 19, the NTA declared UGC-NET 2024 exam cancelled stating that the exam’s integrity had been compromised’. Over 9 lakh candidates had appeared for the exam. Both the exams have now left lakhs of students in the lurch, triggering nationwide protests by students on the streets and the Opposition inside the Parliament.

Bhutan water floods homes, families in Jaigaon shifted to Manglabari Primary School
Jaigaon is located in the Alipurduar district and sits on the India-Bhutan border. Officials of the Kalchini block administration and the Jaigaon Development Authority (JDA) rushed to the spot and rescued the affected families whose residences were covered with silt and rubble. “The families have been shifted to the Manglabari Primary School. As a result, water levels of rivers flowing through the Alipurduar district might increase, which in turn can trigger flash floods. The block administration is preparing a report on the damage,” he said.
