24 से 26 जून को भारतीय कृषि अनुसंधान परिषद का पूर्वी अनुसंधान परिसर, पटना में पंचवर्षीय समीक्षा टीम (क्यूआरटी) की चौथी बैठक आयोजित की गई. भारतीय कृषि अनुसंधान परिषद का पूर्वी अनुसंधान परिसर, पटना में पंचवर्षीय समीक्षा टीम (क्यूआरटी) की चौथी बैठक 24-26 जून, 2024 को आयोजित की गई. टीम ने प्रयोगशालाओं और प्रक्षेत्रों का भ्रमण किया तथा संस्थान की उपलब्धियों की समीक्षा की और इसकी वर्तमान और भविष्य की योजनाओं पर महत्वपूर्ण सुझाव दिए. समीक्षा टीम ने कृषि प्रणाली मॉड्यूल, किस्मों, देशी नस्लों के पंजीकरण, जलवायु अनुकूल पद्धतियों और बेहतर प्रौद्योगिकियों के विकास में संस्थान के अनुसंधान और प्रसार कार्यों की प्रशंसा की. टीम ने संस्थान के अनुसंधान, प्रसार और शैक्षणिक गतिविधियों को मजबूत करने के लिए आधारभूत संरचनाओं और सुविधाओं में पर्याप्त सुधार की अनुशंसा की.

Crude oil down as US inventories increase
Crude oil futures traded lower on Thursday morning as the official data showed an increase in inventories in the US. At 9.52 am on Thursday, September Brent oil futures were at $84.28, down by 0.22 per cent, and August crude oil futures on WTI (West Texas Intermediate) were at $80.68, down by 0.27 per cent. July crude oil futures were trading at ₹6,743 on Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) during initial trading against the previous close of ₹6,805, down by 0.91 per cent, and August futures were trading at ₹6,708 against the previous close of ₹6,761, down by 0.78 per cent. Data by the US EIA (Energy Information Administration) showed that crude oil inventories increased by 3.6 million barrels for the week ending June 21. Won’t help ease gasoline demandTotal motor gasoline inventories also increased by 2.7 million barrels in the US for the week ending June 21.

NEET-UG paper leak probe | CBI says NTA dithers to share key info
PATNA: The National Testing Agency (NTA)’s reluctance in sharing vital and crucial information with the Bihar police’s Economic Offences Unit (EOU) for taking forward the probe into the NEET-UG paper leak has only put the premier testing agency under scanner as the possibility of complicity of some NTA officials in the examination muddle could not be completely ruled out. The CBI, which took over the investigation into the scandal from the Bihar police on June 23, is probing the case from this angle. The role of some NTA functionaries is also being looked into. Earlier, EOU officials alleged that the reluctance of NTA to provide necessary information delayed the probe. The NTA, an autonomous and self-sustained testing organisation under education ministry, is responsible for conducting some crucial examinations such as JEE, NEETUG, UGC-NET, CMAT.

Experts raise concern of scab, leafminer in Himachal’s apple orchards
Senior scientist Dr Usha Sharma from Dr. YS Parmar University emphasised on the importance of natural farming along with the adoption of modern techniques involving the use of pesticides. Raising the woes of apple growers in Himachal Pradesh, scab and apple blotch leafminer have started appearing in orchards. Experts have noted that field inspections suggest the scab has begun appearing on the leaves of apple plants. Also, traces of contagious apple blotch leafminer, an insect known to have damaged thousands of hectares of apple orchards in Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) every year, have started emerging in the orchards of the state. These alarming findings were shared by experts from various institutes, including Dr YS Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry, Nauni, the Regional Horticultural Research and Training Station, Mashobra, and private enterprises, at the CII Apple Conclave held in Kufri on Wednesday.

Moderna received approval from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for its shot, mRESVIA, for the same age group last month. The committee's work group said the balance of risk and benefits for the shot in that age group is more uncertain. Analysts, on average, expect sales of $1.59 billion for GSK's RSV shot, $1.47 billion for Pfizer's and $370 million this year for Moderna. In their clinical trials, GSK's RSV vaccine Arexvy was 78% effective in preventing severe RSV over a second year and Pfizer's Abrysvo was 78% effective through a second RSV season.
