I didn’t come to film to compete: ShakibOften called “King Khan” and “King” of Dhallywood and sometimes called “Dhallywood Bhaijaan,” Shakib Khan is to Bangladesh what Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan are to India. Even after so many years, you still hold a significant position in the Bangladeshi film industry. For many years, I have dreamt of seeing Bangladeshi films on a global platform. There are others like Arifin Shuvoo from here, and from across the border, there are Prosenjit, Jeet and Dev—all heroes of Bengali cinema. We receive people’s love because of Bengali cinema, and I believe together, we need to take Bengali cinema ahead and present it to the world.

They were repatriated with the assistance of Indian embassies in the three countries, a source said. There, they were assigned to collect details of potential victims from social media and entice them into investing in fraudulent schemes. Still, the National Rally isn’t there yet. The National Rally has historical ties to Russia. Many French voters are frustrated with inflation and other economic concerns, as well as Macron’s leadership, seen as arrogant and out-of-touch with their lives. The National Rally party has tapped that discontent, notably via online platforms such as TikTok. Foremost for many voters were the rising cost of living and immigration, which the National Rally campaigned heavily on.

BENGALURU: Textbooks often serve as the first window into the world beyond the classroom, shaping young minds with stories of history, culture, and contemporary figures. But, in recent years, textbooks have also become a point of contestation and censure whether it be history, politics or social moralities. The uproar at Sindhi High School over the inclusion of actor Tamannaah Bhatia – who, incidentally, was in Bengaluru recently – in a Class 7 textbook has sparked a debate that extends beyond the pages. ‘What elicits this kind of censure?’Not having an issue with a male actor but having an issue with Tamannaah Bhatia is part of a larger bias that exists in our society. But having said that, textbook committees should be careful while creating the content and try to not make it political, controversial or hateful.

Last week India faced censure that we need to take seriously. Bulldozer justice worries me personally to such a degree that I have often written against it in this column. Dissidents in the past decade have been regularly arrested under laws that were made for terrorists. But I feel the need to remind him that the only time, other than then, that I have seen foreign correspondents kicked out of India has been in the past ten years. The two French journalists who have recently been expelled had not just lived here for years but were married to Indian citizens.
