According to him, the citizens paid for the military to carry guns and wear uniforms and do their constitutionally mandated jobs but not to force their way into power. Speaking in an interview with Kumasi-based Ashh FM over the weekend during his tour of the Ashanti Region, President Akufo-Addo reiterated that ECOWAS in principle continues to oppose coups. "What I can say is that there will always be reasons for military intervention but ECOWAS has agreed that at no point is a military intervention justified. "We are opposed in principle to military intervention (because) that is not the reason why taxpayers paid for them to be in uniforms and carry guns, not to turn it (guns) on the population. He lamented the move by Guinea President Alpha Conde to run for a third term and the contested nature of the referendum that allowed him to run.

The statement said, the Ministry of Youth and Sports has also endorsed the candidacy of Mr. Deen, President of the NPC-Ghana, in contesting the Presidency of the African Paralympic Committee (APC). According to the ministry, Mr. Deen holds the key to positively change the fortunes of African nations at the level at the international games, as the continent witnessed a decline at the last Paralympic Games in Japan.

Contractors on the airport project have announced recently during a visit by the president to the site that it will be completed in June 2022. The workshop, organized by the National Road Safety Authority, Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA), and Bloomberg Philanthropies for Global Road Safety (BIGRS), was to equip communication officers of road safety organizations with the requisite knowledge to help reduce crashes. He said there was increasing evidence that road traffic deaths were increasing yet no serious attention was being paid to the menace. Data from the Global Burden of Road Traffic Crashes in lower-middle-income countries for 2019 to 2020 indicate that road traffic injuries were the tenth leading cause of deaths, he said. Dr. Awuah said road traffic injuries were the only cause of deaths that could be prevented, adding: “We need to view the issue from the public health perspective... Road traffic injuries are the number one preventable injuries globally, and these disabilities, when they occur, are for life." He called on road safety agencies in the country to play their part in improving safety, particularly among vulnerable road users.

Dr. Henry Kokofu, the Executive Director of the Agency, announced this at an event to outdoor a pilot project to collect hazardous and e-waste for safe management and disposal by experts. The project is a joint venture between the Environmental Protection Agency and Excellent Waste Management, which seeks to help clean up e-waste, create jobs and boost revenue. He mentioned that the idea was to acquire more trucks and dispatch them to Tema, Sunyani, Takoradi, Tamale, Koforidua to ensure that e-waste was properly disposed of. Samuel Asiamah, the General Manager of Excellent Waste Management, said the proper management of e-waste would help clean up the environment for the next generation.
