US$170m judgement debt: Govt’s own arbitrator disagreed with termination - NDC lawyer
Government of Ghana's termination of a power agreement with Ghana Power Generation Company, GPGC, led to a US$170 million judgement debt that has dominated news headlines in the past week. He said in comments monitored by GhanaWeb: "Because it was arbitration, Government of Ghana came with its own arbitrator, that is like a judge. "When the panel evaluated the evidence put forward by the Government of Ghana, even the judge that government of Ghana even appointed could not agree with the position of government on this termination. "Government’s own judge out of the three cannot agree with this government," he stressed. The former Energy Minister, Mr Agyarko, has defended the termination of the contract whiles the current Attorney General is on record to have said the police Criminal Investigations Department has been tasked to probe the entire contract.

In an interview with Joy News, the MP popularly known as Joe Wise revealed that he first met his wife while working on a commercial bus as a young conductor. According to the MP, he had to work in his fathers’ commercial bus when he completed 6th Form and was heading for the university. It was on one of their trips that he met his wife who was then on her way to school. “So we were just hanging around and then one morning my father said, ‘Joe if you are not doing anything at home, why don’t you join the trotro?’. Heavy rains hit parts of Accra, Kumasi as perennial floods emerge
