Adan took her three young daughters to Canada leaving her husband, peace activist Elman Ali Ahmed, behind. Ahmed was killed in 1996 after he received threats from warlords to stop doing the work of bringing peace to the country. The remaining residents of Little Bay Islands, full time and part time, make an effort to beautify their community. I found out a couple of weeks ago, when I got the opportunity to visit Little Bay Islands — resettled for nearly three years. They packed up their possessions and drove onto the last ferry leaving Little Bay Islands on New Year's Eve, 2019. Little Bay Islands seems like a post-consumer utopia. It would be too easy to lose sense of time in Little Bay Islands.

So, with a bit of a ticking clock, I had begun to consider what kind of car would be ideal for the work I do. We spend a lot of time idling the car to keep warm or cool and to keep laptops and other batteries charged. There are several challenges to shopping for an electric car. Westway owner Bryan David was an early adopter of electric charging stations. Back in the city, I see the true value in the electric car; I’m not burning fuel as I inch along roadways during rush hour.
