Black hair was so important to Black people that it was always styled and maintained, until the beginning of the transatlantic slave trade. Many have called the natural hair space “toxic” for often excluding 4c hair and focusing on looser curls as the ideal hair type, according to refinery29.com. Cunningham noted that during that time, having relaxed hair that was also color-treated was seen as two chemicals at once, damaging natural hair. So that’s why I started my natural hair journey.”In her natural hair journey, she felt that it was hard to understand her hair; sometimes, she just wanted to cut it all off. She credits the natural hair movement and Black-owned businesses to her improved relationship with her hair.

As of the 10-game mark of the season, the Leafs’ top-end talent is not holding up its end of the bargain. When the Leafs played Saturday in L.A., the evening was Mexican themed. I talked to a U.S.-based Western Conference exec in California who didn’t think there was much wrong with the Leafs. The Leafs played in two of the oldest buildings in the NHL on the trip through California. Say that in an ironic way and make a joke about how that cap hit would fit right in with the Leafs.

Addressing supply issues not substitute for rate hikes, says Bank of Canada officialOTTAWA — Bank of Canada senior deputy governor Carolyn Rogers says addressing supply problems could help ease inflationary pressures but such policies wouldn't substitute the need for higher interest rates. Rogers added that such policies, however, would be complementary to interest rate hikes and not substitutes. Last week, the central bank raised interest rates for the sixth consecutive time this year, raising its key interest rate by half a percentage point and indicating rates would have to rise further. Canada’s annual inflation rate was 6.9 per cent in September but has been steadily declining since reaching its highest rate this year of 8.1 per cent in June. Bank of Canada officials are typically called in to testify following the release of the April and October monetary policy reports.

Robert Grant with his wife Iryna and daughter Olivia at the Ukrainian border. (Submitted by Robert Grant - image credit)For a family from Ukraine, a summer at their cottage near Cornwall, Ont., was "idyllic." Robert and Iryna Grant spent their time nesting after welcoming their daughter Olivia at the Montfort Hospital in Ottawa in March — five weeks early, something Robert Grant attributes to the stress of their arrival. The family had always planned to have their daughter in Ottawa, but their plan to leave Kyiv, Ukraine, was sped up when talk of war became serious in February. His family could visit him there, but none of Iryna's family could make the trip from Ukraine.

Sixty-seven per cent of developments, 189 projects with available units, sold no condos in the third quarter, said development tracking market research firm Urbanation on Monday. That was the beginning of the global financial crisis, but Toronto’s condo boom was already under way by then. Developers depend on pre-construction sales to obtain financing in order to build their projects. That difference in new construction versus resale units is part of the current hesitancy by condo buyers, he said. That could lead to a glut in assignment sales — those are sales by investors who bought resale construction units but then sell them before the building is completed.

Trump asks justices to keep tax returns from House committeeWASHINGTON (AP) — Former President Donald Trump is going to the Supreme Court, again, this time to try to stop his tax returns from being handed to a congressional committee. Lower courts ruled that the committee has broad authority to obtain tax returns and rejected Trump's claims that it was overstepping. The Justice Department, under the Trump administration, had defended a decision by then-Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin to withhold the tax returns from Congress. After President Joe Biden took office, the committee renewed the request, seeking Trump’s tax returns and additional information from 2015-2020. That case, too, went to the Supreme Court, which rejected Trump’s argument that he had broad immunity as president.

Musk boosts surge in misinformation about Pelosi attackWithin hours of the attack on Paul Pelosi, conspiracy theories deflecting blame for the assault on the husband of U.S. Speaker Nancy Pelosi were already swirling online. It didn't matter that authorities said Paul Pelosi was alone when the suspect broke into the couple's San Francisco home. Donald Trump Jr., meanwhile, ridiculed Paul Pelosi on Twitter with false assertions. The posts focusing on Paul Pelosi were just a subset of a recent wave of hateful and conspiracy theory-laden posts that followed Musk's purchase of Twitter. District Attorney Brooke Jenkins debunked several other aspects of the conspiracy theory as well, saying there's no evidence DePape knew Paul Pelosi, and saying Pelosi was alone at home when DePape broke in.
