DEHRADUN, India, Nov 21, 2023 (BSS/AFP) - Forty-one Indian workers trapped in a collapsed road tunnel for 10 days were seen alive on camera for the first time Tuesday as workers attempted to create a new passageway to free them. "We will bring you out safely, do not worry," rescuers can be heard telling the helmet-wearing men trapped inside as they gather near the camera, video released by state authorities shows. Excavators have been removing tonnes of earth, concrete and rubble from the under-construction tunnel in the northern Himalayan state of Uttarakhand since November 12, after a portion of the tunnel collapsed. Before the camera was introduced, rescuers had been communicating with the men inside using radios. "All the workers are completely safe", Uttarakhand chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said in a statement.

Arsonists have set fire to 185 vehicles and 15 structures nationwide in the aftermath of violent clashes surrounding the BNP's anti-government rally on Oct 28. As of Tuesday, a total of 197 arson attacks on vehicles and structures were reported across the country, reports bdnews24.com. Violent clashes erupted in Kakrail during the BNP's rally in Paltan as the police cracked down on party activists. BNP supporters subsequently set fire to vehicles and vandalized structures in different parts of the city, and initiated a series of hartals and blockades in protest. Over 100 vehicles and structures were burnt down during these programmes.

She uncovered the book compiled by chairman of Palli Sanchay Bank and former senior secretary Md Akram-Al-Hossain at her official residence Ganabhaban. The premier wrote the introduction of the book, which also included the QR code of the full audio version of every speech. The publisher of the book said the speeches of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman are invaluable elements of history. Bangabandhu was acclaimed with the title of "Poet of Politics" in the international arena due to the historic speech.

The Awami League sees no need to form a Grand Alliance with the Jatiya Party to win the general election. DHAKA, Nov 20, 2023 (BSS) - Five dengue patients died and 1,197 were admitted to different hospitals in the country during the last 24 hours till 8 am today. On November 15, Bangladesh witnessed 24 dengue deaths, the highest in a single day this year. "The death toll from dengue infection crossed the 1500-mark as the authorities recorded 1,554 dengue deaths between January 1 and November 20 this year," a press release from the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said. "During the period, 286 dengue patients were hospitalised in Dhaka city while 1,197 were admitted to different hospitals outside the capital city," the DGHS daily statement added. With the new cases, the total number of patients rose to 3,02,452, the statement said, adding: "This year, some 2,96,254 patients were released from different hospitals out of the total patients."
