Four of a family die after mud wall collapses in Teknaf
A mud wall has collapsed amid inclement weather in Teknaf, killing a woman and her three children. Rashed Mahmud Ali, chairman of Nhila Union Council, said the incident occurred in the Moulvibazar area around 3 am on Friday. The dead were identified as Anowara Begum, 50, Shahidul Mostafa, 20, Nilufa Yasmin, 15, and Sadia Begum, 11, from Moulvibazar. Heavy rains battered the area due to the influence of the cyclonic storm over the Bay of Bengal, Rashed said, citing locals.

India's position on Bangladesh remains same as stated earlier: MEA
NEW DELHI, Nov 16, 2023 (BSS) - India's position on Bangladesh even after announcement of polls schedule remains the same as it was stated earlier after the recently held India-US 2+2 Ministerial Dialogue. Asked about political developments in Bangladesh after announcement of election schedule, he categorically said that "People of Bangladesh and their democratic system will work it out in this regard". He said after the India-US 2+2 dialogue, the foreign secretary of India has clearly explained India's position on Bangladesh's issue...so, I don't have more to add on it. "As a close friend and partner of Bangladesh, India respect democratic process in Bangladesh and will continue to support the country's vision of a stable, peaceful and progressive nation," he added. On Bangladesh issue, he said India shared its "perspective very clearly" to the US side in the dialogue.

Awami League tells US ‘not enough time’ for any meaningful dialogue before polls
The Awami League has responded to the US letter calling for talks between political parties before the general election in Bangladesh, saying there is “not enough time” for such a dialogue to take place. Amid blockades by the BNP for the government’s resignation, the conditions also “do not exist” for talks, the ruling party told the US. Mohammad Ali Arafat, a member of the Awami League’s central committee, delivered the letter from General Secretary Obaidul Quader addressing Donald Lu, the assistant secretary of state for south and central Asian affairs at the US Department of State, on Friday. Arafat said he handed the letter to Arturo Hines, deputy counsellor for political and economic affairs at the US Embassy in Dhaka. Lu sent letters to the Awami League, the BNP and the Jatiya Party on Nov 13, calling for talks amid a standoff over who will govern the country during the upcoming election.

Drug peddler held with 1.134 kg heroin in C'nawabganj

RAB said acting on secret information, an operation team of RAB-5 fromChapainawabganj camp conducted a raid at Chowdhury More area inChapainawabganj town at around 10:30 pm and detained an auto-rickshaw. Cyclone Midhili weakens after crossing Bangladesh coast
Cyclone Midhili has barreled past the Bangladesh coast and weakened into a deep depression with winds gusting up to 88 kph. The cyclone weakened into a deep depression and now lies over Patuakhali and adjoining areas, the Met Office said on Friday. Under its influence, a steep pressure gradient persists over North Bay. The National Telecommunication Monitoring Centre (NTMC) in Bangladesh has exposed a database to the open web. When asked by bdnews24.com, Major General Ziaul Ahsan, director general of NTMC, said the information about the data leak was “totally incorrect”. “These are not original data.”WIRED reported that it was not a typical database leak.
