As part of the mourning, people from various professions - including government officials and employees – wore black badges. Though many government employees were mourning, they did not wish to speak on the record. At the Cabinet meeting on Monday, Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan had highlighted the deaths and damage in the recent violence, said Cabinet Secretary Md Mahbub Hossain. The home minister had said that the government's death count from the violence had risen from 147 to 150.
