LAHORE – Pakistan pacer Hasan Ali has said that the solution of growing voices from the sports fraternity for restoration of departmental cricket is some basic changes to the current structure that can help put Pakistan cricket back on track. “I feel that instead of a complete overhaul, some basic changes to the current structure can be made to improve the situation. “When that happens, Pakistan cricket will see much more talent emerge which can only benefit our game.”According to Hasan, before delving into which system is the best, there is a need to understand what should be done to improve Pakistan cricket. Some of the players have even gone to the USA to play cricket which clearly tells you that there are less opportunities for playing cricket in Pakistan. My ultimate aim is to play for Pakistan and take wickets in the same way I have done in the past,” he asserted.

When it comes to the history of the Toronto Maple Leafs, no season in recent years has both fascinated and baffled me more than the 2011-12 campaign. All of a sudden, a 1-4-1 stretch in mid-November saw seven lineup regulars suffer injuries and resulted in the Leafs’ record on the season dropping to 10-7-2. It was no longer a question of if the Leafs can salvage the season, but rather who they should draft in the first round. Rynnas only made two appearances for the Leafs that season and his lone start saw him surrender seven goals against the Flyers. It’s no wonder Gustavsson was on thin ice entering the season and Leafs fans were clamouring for the team to trade for Roberto Luongo .

ISLAMABAD: The government has asked the International Monetary Fund (IMF) for a one-year extension of the ongoing program, as well as an enhancement of the remaining financing. According to sources who were part of the government delegation in Washington DC, the fund has agreed “in principle”. For its part, the IMF has asked for a removal of the fuel price caps imposed by the former government. “They want us to minimise the deviation and make up for some of the subsidy and deviation,” the source tells Profit. This suggests the budget is likely to be presented earlier than usual, most likely by the middle of May to conclude the staff-level agreement.

ISLAMABAD – Pakistan yesterday categorically rejected the malicious Indian propaganda regarding the alleged use of the Kartarpur Corridor for business meetings. The foreign ministry said it was obvious that this concoction is part of India’s deliberate smear campaign, seeking to undermine Pakistan’s historic initiative of opening the Kartarpur Sahib Corridor for Sikh pilgrims from India and around the world. The foreign ministry says Pakistan accorded the highest primacy to the rights of the minorities. Just recently, Pakistan hosted over 2000 Sikh pilgrims from India alone who were here to participate in the annual Baisakhi festival held from April 12-21, 2022. The Sikh community around the world has remained appreciative of Pakistan’s commitment to inclusivity, diversity and promotion of religious harmony,” it elaborated.

WASHINGTON – Country’s new Finance Minister Miftah Ismail agreed with the recommendations of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to reduce fuel subsidies and end a business tax amnesty scheme, pledging to pursue structural reforms to boost a crisis-wracked economy. I agree with them,” Mr. Ismail, himself a former IMF economist, said at the Atlantic Council. But Mr Ismail added that some targetted subsidies should remain for Pakistan’s poorest amid sky-high global prices. Mr Ismail said that Pakistan, the world’s fifth most-populous nation, needed to move to a new economic model by removing obstacles and promoting exports to the world. Mr. Ismail said his immediate goal was reining in double-digit inflation — a target complicated by lifting fuel subsidies — and kickstarting job creation.
