As he prepares for a critical Week 12 matchup with the Ottawa Redblacks, Edmonton Elks’ head coach Chris Jones is seeing shades of a familiar face in his opponent’s young quarterback. Since taking over the Redblacks’ offence in Week 5, rookie Dustin Crum has become a sensation. “You look at him and that’s what I told the defence today, that guy, he runs extremely well,” Jones told the Edmonton media earlier this week. However, he was also a reliable threat on the ground, running for 3,566 yards and 56 rushing touchdowns. Meanwhile, Edmonton finally recorded a victory last week thanks to their own young quarterback, Canadian Tre Ford.

By the mid-1950s, the world was caught in the grip of the U.S.-Soviet Cold War. For the Americans, space exploration wasn’t just scientific curiosity; it was a manifestation of their tradition of exploration and a desire to demonstrate their prowess. The establishment of NASA and subsequent missions highlighted the United States’ commitment to assert its dominance beyond Earth’s confines. Drawing parallels to the Age of Exploration, space exploration now serves as a yardstick to measure a country’s mettle on the global stage. Contrary to claims of waging total war and being locked in a perpetual cold war, the reality for Pakistan is more complex.

The intricate web of factors contributing to the prevalence of malnutrition in Pakistan is underscored by a confluence of socio-economic and cultural dynamics. The main connection between inflation and malnutrition is accessibility; food costs generally increase as a result of inflation. If the youngsters won't be able to compete in the economy, we must consider where Pakistan will end up. Through partnerships with the Government of Pakistan, NI has played a pivotal role in advancing various nutrition-related initiatives across the country. In Pakistan, where malnutrition remains a persistent challenge, NI's efforts stand as a testament to the power of collective action.

A recent trip to Kandahar and Kabul provided some glimpses into how senior Taliban officials view Pakistan’s displeasure with their counter-terrorism efforts. The Pakistan army chief had in his address to the jirga reportedly shot down the suggestion by the Afghan Taliban to resume talks with the TTP. The jirga was told that talks will only be held with the Taliban regime as the TTP is in their territory. The order says all those using Afghan soil for terrorism in neighbouring countries will have to face consequences if found involved; and they will be dealt with under the law of the land. “How can we then tolerate any threats or attacks on the interests of our neighbours,” an official in Kabul asked.

There have been widespread protests against electricity bills. Perhaps particularly worrying for the government is the fact that there is no single organization, let alone any political party behind the protests. Also, it means that the protesters cannot really be given concessions that might bring the protests to an end. The government must not wait for protests to grow, and must avoid the sort of clash with the public that it avoided on May 9. It should not be forgotten that there have been protests when LESCO and K-Electric offices have been razed.

Da’ish and its affiliates such as Afghanistan-based Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), now armed with NATO-calibre weapons, continue to pose a serious threat in conflict zones and neighbouring countries, two UN counter-terrorism officials told the Security Council. “As a result of counter-terrorism efforts, Da’ish has moved to adopt less hierarchical and more networked, decentralised structures, following al-Qaeda’s footsteps, with increased operational autonomy by its affiliated groups,” said Voronkov. Conflict and instability in Sudan have also renewed attention on the presence and activity of Da’ish and other terrorist groups there. He underscored that international law “remains the bedrock” for successful counter-terrorism efforts. Her final point noted that the UN has stepped up efforts to hold Da’ish accountable for its crimes.
