Imran Khan, the former Prime Minister of Pakistan, was arrested by paramilitary officers outside the High Court in Islamabad on Tuesday. Reports state that he was detained by forces in armoured personnel carriers after entering the court compound. With many social media applications impacted in the aftermath, die-hard internet users took to installing VPNs, or Virtual Private Networks, for communication purposes. While the situation remained tense, Pakistanis also did what they do best - make memes. Even though it's no joking matter, a little bit of humour during dark times can sometimes help.

The popularity of music concerts of famous singers, like, say, Rahat Fateh Ali Khan and Atif Aslam, may be judged by the fact that they are attended by thousands of people. A connoisseur of music myself, it gives me pleasure to know about the popularity of these concerts and other entertainment programmes. In the 1950s, male playback singing was dominated by Inayat Hussain Bhatti, Saleem Raza and Munir Hussain. Being disappointed with his fallen status in the industry, Saleem migrated to Canada in the early 1980s and died there after a few years. They will always owe their status to the legends who kept the music scene alive with their heart and soul even in tough times.

The Pakistan men’s cricket team’s latest showing against New Zealand at home in the One-Day International series has several positives that the green shirts can bank on in the upcoming World Cup. Cricket diplomacy between India and Pakistan has been more or less stagnant ever since the Modi government came to power. However, an international tournament is much bigger than any bilateral series. A world cup without a potential finalist and winner would be tantamount to the other teams getting a walkover. An international tournament should be free from bilateral politics and should be about the sport itself.

I am writing to express my concern about Twitter’s decision to charge for the blue tick verification system. The blue tick was once a way to show that someone was genuine and famous, but now it costs $8 a month to get one. I worry that charging for the blue tick verification system will make it less valuable and honest. This could cause people to trust Twitter less and make it harder for people to feel like they belong on the platform. Overall, I think Twitter should find a way to keep the blue tick verification system without making it something people have to pay for.
