Cognizant discriminated against non-Indian workers, US jury says
Cognizant Technology Solutions Corp engaged in a pattern of discriminatory conduct toward non-Indian workers and should pay punitive damages to compensate employees who suffered harm, a US jury found. A Cognizant spokesperson said the company is disappointed with the verdict and plans to appeal. Bloomberg News reported in July that the Teaneck, New Jersey-based company was among a handful of outsourcing firms exploiting loopholes in the H1-B visa lottery system. Cognizant also said that in recent years it has increased its US hiring and reduced its dependence on the H1-B program. The case is Palmer v Cognizant Tech Solutions Corp, 17-cv-06848, US District Court, Central District of California (Los Angeles).

He used his formidable intellect to chart out a praxis for the party that is physically within society but must remain epistemically outside of it. He was thus a true modern communist, a communist of our times, sensitive to the change that had occurred in the world but aware of the dangers it posed to his praxis as a communist.

WASHINGTON - U.S. President Joe Biden is expected to hold a phone call on Wednesday with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu about any plans to strike Iran, Axios reported late on Tuesday, citing three U.S. officials. Biden to speak to Netanyahu about Iran retaliation on Wednesday, Axios reports"We want to use the call to try and shape the limitations of the Israeli retaliation," a U.S. official was quoted as saying by Axios. Axios cited the U.S. official as saying that Washington wants to make sure Israel attacks targets in Iran that are significant without being disproportionate. The Middle East has been on edge awaiting Israel's response to a missile attack from Iran last week that Tehran carried out in retaliation for Israel's military escalation in Lebanon. The Iranian attack ultimately killed no one in Israel and Washington called it ineffective.
