World’s leading fabless semiconductor company, MediaTek on Thursday said that it was looking at multi-fold jump in the automotive business in India as it expands its product lines including smart digital cluster solutions for automobiles. The company is also in talks with the top five automobile manufacturers right now for supplying solutions in the coming years, Mike Chang, Corporate Vice-President, Automotive Platform Business Unit, MediaTek, told businessline here. “The automotive industry is one of the key industries in India, very promising in future and we want to be part of it. The company also launched “Made in India” Smart Digital Cluster and Smart Module specially tailored for the two-wheeler (2W) market, along with JioThings Ltd, a subsidiary of Jio Platforms Ltd. This long-term strategic collaboration will deliver Android based smart digital cluster solution in India and the global market.

A 70-year-old man died and three persons were injured in a fire that broke out on Thursday in a high rise in Borivali in Mumbai's northern tip, a civic official said. IT services company Tech Mahindra is likely to see muted revenue growth in the first quarter ended June 2024, impacted by seasonal weakness. Meanwhile, sequential revenue growth is seen anywhere between 0.3-0.9 per cent. Financial services group Nomura said in its quarterly preview, “We expect CC growth of 0.5 per cent quarter-on-quarter. EBIT margins to expand by 100 bps quarter-on-quarter.”Meanwhile, Motilal Oswal noted, “Revenue growth is expected to be muted at 0.4 per cent quarter-on-quarter CC; while the communications vertical has bottomed out, recovery could take longer. Prabhudas Lilladher said, “We expect revenue growth (0.3 per cent CC quarter-on-quarter) to be impacted by seasonality in Comviva business, otherwise the enterprise business is expected to outpace the growth of the communication business.

The Economic Survey does not deny climate change. It is not clear though whether the Economic Survey was making an academic argument, or signalling of possible shift in India’s energy transition trajectory. In this situation, rapid improvement in incomes and overall well-being of the people is the best insurance against climate change. It is in this context that it is sometimes proposed that the rich and developed countries do the mitigation work while developing countries focus on adaptation. Global Wind Energy Council (GWEC) expects India to reach 122GW of installed wind capacity by FY32E. This signals an upcycle for wind OEMs like Suzlon Energy. We expect Suzlon to deliver 2.1GW of Wind turbine generators (WTG) in FY26E, resulting in 73% CAGR from 0.7GW in FY24. Currently, Suzlon has 3.31GW of unexecuted orders, with its sales expected to grow at a 53 per cent CAGR, surpassing the industry growth of 18 per cent. Despite factoring in execution risks, the EPS is expected to grow at a 66 per cent CAGR, resulting in a ROE improvement from 18.2 per cent in FY24A to 26.8 per cent in FY26.

SHIRUR: The Karnataka government confirmed on Wednesday that a truck has been located in the Gangavali River amid the ongoing search for Kerala native Arjun, and two others who went missing after a landslide in Shirur. Attempts to lift the lorry from the river will resume on Thursday morning. Earlier Karnataka Revenue Minister Krishna Byre Gowda confirmed the location of the truck in the Gangavalli river through a social media post. "One truck has been definitively located in the water and that the naval deep divers will attempt anchoring shortly. The collaboration enabled the identification of the location of the truck with Arjun onboard.
