People just use crisis as opportunity for corruption and over and over again we see it happening and we have to figure out how to stop that. “And as for the airport, it is just somebody creating an opportunity for somebody and maybe in due course more information will come up,” he added.

To him, no government possesses a magic wand that could easily transform the economy and as such the #FixTheCountry agenda should be revisited and revised. Mr. Kufuor in an interview on Kofi TV said Ghana is still depending on the same resources it had 64 years ago which makes it difficult because the country’s population keeps expanding. “When did we finish fixing the nation that all of a sudden we are acting as through it was once fixed and someone destroy it? He said the country is currently suffering from its decision to introduce certain foreign culture and practices without subjecting it to proper scrutiny first. We should stop saying fix the country as though there is a magic wand we could just cast and everything will be better,” he established.

According to the Accra Regional Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Afia Tenge, the suspects upon seeing the Police, attempted to escape and run into a nearby thick bush. She said the Police in the process of arresting the suspects opened fire which ended up hitting one of them. “After a short while, the suspects emerged again; this time from another direction of the forest to continue their operation. The suspect after being hit by the bullet was rushed to the Police Hospital for treatment but has been discharged and handed over to the police. This is the fifth time suspected robbers have been arrested on the stretch in one week, following several complaints of robbery attacks by road users.

The 38-year-old Benjamin Seidu, a forest guard allegedly met his untimely death when he and other colleagues were on their way to the forest to pick seedlings for the Green Ghana Project. The sad incident happened at Kumawu Wonoo in the Sekyere Kumawu District of the Ashanti region. He further revealed that Mr Seidu sat at the back of the truck with a gun in his hand. The wife of the deceased, Sadikatu Seidu, explaining her ordeal revealed she received the shocking news from some Islamic clerics after prayers.

At a brief event at the Ministry of Finance to commemorate the green Ghana Project, Mr Ofori-Atta emphasized the need for Ghanaians to embrace the project and take personal responsibility in planting and nurturing trees. “The Green Ghana Initiative is a critical initiative that will allow us to increase our tree canopy in order to create healthier and cooler microclimates, improve our air quality as well as positively impact the hydrological cycle (water quality and availability)” he disclosed. He further stated that the Ministry has been working with relevant MDAs on Climate Finance initiatives to aid the transition to a low-carbon economy in order to promote environmental sustainability and social well-being. The Minister planted a coconut tree at the Ministry to signify the Ministry’s participation in the Green Ghana Project which was part of President Akufo-Addo's Government’s broader agenda of preserving and protecting the country’s forest cover and environment at large through the planting of 5 million trees nationwide. Chief Director of the Ministry of Finance, Mr Patrick Nomo and Commissioner, Support Services Division of the Ghana Revenue Authority, Ms Julie Essiam, also planted trees to commemorate the day.

He was speaking at a two-day conference in Tamale organised by the Northern Development Authority (NDA) to validate the Northern Ghana Tourism Development Strategy. Key stakeholders in the tourism sector, including Ghana Tourism Authority, Ghana Cultural Forum, Ghana Museums and Monuments Board, and Creative Arts Agency, among others, attended the conference to validate the strategy to pave way for its launch and implementation. The draft Northern Ghana Tourism Development Strategy was facilitated by the then Savannah Accelerated Development Authority (SADA) between 2016 and 2017 under the auspices of the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture. Others also called for investments in arts and culture to sustain the tourism industry.

Prior to the exhibition, an unidentified voice was heard saying the child “was crying, she stopped when I gave her money”. That individual during the display of wealth chanted, urging Tracey Boakye to carry on. In less than thirty seconds, the floor was ‘painted’ with the cedi notes.

The Chief Justice in a letter written by the Judicial Secretary said the Chief Justice took issue with the views expressed by Dr. Ayine on the 2020 Election Petition Judgment on a CDD-Ghana platform. Muhammed added, the focus of the discussion regarding Dr Ayine being hauled before the disciplinary Committee of GLC should rather be on attempts by the Chief Justice to discourage freedom of speech. Unfortunately, the Chief Justice and the judiciary, in particular, are doing everything possible to truncate this process and trying to deny people their right to speak,” Murtala Muhammed stressed.
