Most recently, he stepped in as a last-minute substitute in Sarasota, Florida, for three performances of the Grieg Piano Concerto. When the artist returns to his home town this weekend for concerts with Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, he’ll play Bernstein’s Symphony No. Auden's 1947 book-length poem “The Age of Anxiety”, Bernstein’s work was commissioned by his mentor, Serge Koussevitzky, and premiered with the Boston Symphony two years later. “It’s a highly serious work, and it’s a philosophical work,” Parker says. Dems show surprising strength; control of Congress unclearWASHINGTON (AP) — Control of Congress hung in the balance early Wednesday as Democrats showed surprising strength, defeating Republicans in a series of competitive races and defying expectations that high inflation and President Joe Biden’s low approval ratings would drag the party down. With votes still being counted across the country, Republicans still had the opportunity to win control of Congress. Republican control of the House would likely trigger a round of investigations into Biden and his family, while a GOP Senate takeover would hobble Biden’s ability to make judicial appointments. Shapiro's victory rebuffed an election denier who some feared would not certify a Democratic presidential win in the state in 2024. Trump lifted Republican Senate candidates to victory in Ohio and North Carolina.

There are different systems for collecting votes, but while many of the systems used in decision-making can also be used as electoral systems, any which cater for proportional representation can only be used in elections. In smaller organizations, voting can occur in different ways. Trump says he’ll make ‘big announcement’ Nov. 15 in FloridaWASHINGTON (AP) — Former President Donald Trump said Monday he will be making a “big announcement” next week as he teased a third presidential run while campaigning on the eve of the final day of voting in this year's midterm elections. “I'm going to be making a very big announcement on Tuesday, Nov. 15 at Mar-a-Lago," Trump said before a cheering crowd in Vandalia, Ohio, Monday night, where he was holding his final rally of the midterm season to bolster Senate candidate JD Vance. Indeed, the date of Trump's announcement — Nov. 15 — is the same day former Vice President Mike Pence will be releasing a book that is seen as part of his own potential campaign rollout. Trump's announcement comes as he confronts a series of escalating legal challenges, including several investigations that could lead to indictments. Trump won Ohio, once considered a bellwether, by 8 points in both 2016 and 2020.

CSIS warned Emergencies Act would radicalize protesters and push them toward violenceOTTAWA — The Canadian Security Intelligence Service warned cabinet ministers on Feb. 13 that invoking the Emergencies Act could push "Freedom Convoy" protesters toward violence, a public inquiry was told Monday, while the mayor of Windsor, Ont., testified he hoped it would act as a deterrent. The document shown in the public hearing suggests CSIS officials offered advice to cabinet the day before the act was invoked. The document, classified as "secret," also showed that CSIS found no indications that ideologically motivated extremists were planning any violence as of Feb. 3. He told the commission he feared protesters would return to the Ambassador Bridge border crossing, which is the country's busiest land port. The Public Order Emergency Commission, which is required under the Emergencies Act, has scheduled public hearings in Ottawa through to Nov. 25.
