Two companies offered solar panels in instalments to brighten homes in the Haor region, but this gesture darkened the lives of many who find themselves entangled in legal woes, some even jailed or fined. The two companies started cases against hundreds of villagers, including those from Dumra and Anandpur in Shalla. These cases were based on allegations of not making instalment payments and making threats after buying solar panels. Additionally, these companies initiated legal action against many villagers who neither purchased the panels nor did they miss instalment payments. In response to these complaints, the two companies and their legal representatives have promised to rectify any mistakes that might have occurred.

The Costs of BNP-Jamaat's Successive Strikes and BlockadesHartal (strike) and Oborodh (blockade) are not new to Indian sub-continental politics. In 419 major incidents of political violence throughout the year of 2013, spearheaded by Jamaat-Shibir, 492 people were killed while 2,200 others were injured in the incidents. This was followed by another two days of Oborodh by BNP, Jamaat, and allies on November 5 and 6. From large shopping malls to wholesale traders, all have seen business going down sharply due to the BNP-Jamaat blockades. Many guardians are reluctant to send their children to schools and colleges due to the risk of falling victims to political violence by blockade enforcers, especially those who live far from the educational institutions.

The new, live-action "Zelda" movie will be directed by Wes Ball, who made the "Maze Runner" trilogy, and co-produced by Avid Arad, who has overseen several major "Spider-Man" films. Legendary Nintendo designer Shigeru Miyamoto, who created both the Mario and Zelda game franchises, and was heavily involved in this year's smash-hit "The Super Mario Bros. Movie," also returns to produce the "Zelda" film. Nintendo remained wary of Hollywood adaptations of its franchises for decades after its 1993 live-action "Super Mario Bros." movie disastrously flopped. In an interview with AFP in April ahead of the "Mario" film, Miyamoto said Nintendo had learned that "we wanted to develop the movie ourselves, instead of licensing it" to another company. No plot or casting details for the "Zelda" film have yet been announced.

PARIS, Nov 8, 2023 (BSS/AFP) - Plans to expand oil, gas and coal production by major fossil fuel countries would push the world far beyond the Paris deal's 1.5C global warming limit, the UN warned Wednesday. Overall it found that governments' plans would produce 110 percent more fossil fuels in 2030 than would be consistent with limiting warming to 1.5C, and 69 percent more than would be consistent with 2C. Meanwhile, UNEP said the world's biggest emitter China produces just over half of the world's supply of coal, the most polluting of the fossil fuels. Fossil fuels and the emissions they cause are expected to dominate at the meeting in oil-rich UAE from November 30 to December 12. "What our society needs is energy, it's not fossil fuels," she said.
