Election Commission Secretary Md Jahangir Alam said the commission's core activities will start after the announcement of the election schedule, and an interim government will be established during this period. In this process, the commission will hold meeting with law enforcement, inter-ministerial discussions, and consultations with registered political parties. Subsequently, the commission will convene a meeting to finalise potential election dates, appoint returning officers and assistant returning officers, and address other matters. In addition to pre-schedule preparations, 44 registered parties have been invited to the EC in two phases on Nov 4 to gather feedback," said Jahangir. However, the BNP and like-minded parties, along with some leftist groups, have not responded to the Election Commission's call for dialogue.

PARIS, Nov 1, 2023 (BSS/AFP) - Plastic litter in rivers might be allowingdangerous pathogens to hitch-hike downstream, a new study published Wednesdayfound. In 2019, infectionsrelated to antibiotic resistance are estimated to have killed 2.7 millionpeople worldwide. P.aeruginosa, which causes infections in hospital patients, was found to benearly three times more abundant on "weathered plastic" that the researchersmanipulated to resemble the way plastic breaks down in nature, when comparedto the wood. That weathered plastic also showed a greater abundance of the genesresponsible for antibiotic resistance. Rivers are the main way plastic enters the world's oceans, channellinganywhere between 3.5 thousand tonnes to 2.41 million tonnes of the manmadematerial to the sea annually.

Internet service will be temporarily disrupted in Bangladesh from Tuesday morning as maintenance work is carried out on the submarine cable, authorities say, reports bdnews24.com. The upgrading of the country’s first submarine cable system in Cox’s Bazar is ongoing, according to Bangladesh Submarine Cables PLC. The circuits connected to this cable will be partially closed for maintenance from 2:00 am to 12:00pm on Tuesday and 2:00am to 12:00pm on Thursday. However, circuits connected through the submarine cables laid at Kuakata will remain operational. The authorities say the internet may be slow or could be disrupted during the upgrading work, but the bandwidth capacity of BSCPCL will expand significantly afterwards.

I would love for Trump not to be on the Colorado ballot or any other ballot ever again. I wish enough GOP senators had had the nerve to disqualify Trump from office after either of his impeachment trials. It’s the undying support of the Trump base that is nearly certain to get him nominated again. There is no number scarier or more inexplicable to me than the 74 million votes Trump received in the non-rigged 2020 election. But what would the 70% of Republicans believe if Trump were to be kicked off the ballot?

When the Nebraska volleyball team goes six-on-six, the "B side" of the court has a few of the former men’s college volleyball players who assist with practice while also getting something of a coaching internship. Nebraska coach John Cook doesn’t know yet if Larson will play when the Huskers go six-on-six over the final two months of the season. She’s having coffee with them and meeting with them and watching video with them. An NCAA rule change this year allowed college volleyball teams to add a third paid assistant coach, when the sport previously allowed for one volunteer assistant coach. Going to USC will put Mullen in the same city as her older sister, Ashley, who is a setter on the UCLA volleyball team.
