Overnight, this meaningful landmark of my time at Cornell had disappeared, with no public explanation even until now, nearly two months later. I still haven’t seen a public explanation, either prior to or after the removal of my old friend from Libe Slope. Hasina pushes for study to set up fertiliser factory in Bhola and use gas of island district
Sheikh Hasina has asked for a study to check the feasibility of setting up a fertiliser plant in Bhola and run it with the natural gas found there. Cabinet Secretary Mahbub Hossain said the prime minister discussed ways to use the gas found in the island district after the power, energy and mineral resources ministry informed her about the finding of oil and gas in a Sylhet field during a meeting of the council of ministers on Monday. It is difficult to transport gas from Bhola. A small quantity is supplied as compressed natural gas or CNG to industries in other regions. After the discovery of gas in Bhola in 1993-94, Bangladesh currently has three gas fields in the district and gas has been found in nine wells there.

India's Supreme Court upholds revocation of Kashmir's autonomy
The 2019 declaration was "a culmination of the process of integration and assuch is a valid exercise of power", the Supreme Court said in its verdict. Removing Article 370 has been a key plank of his Bharatiya Janata Party'splatform since its inception, and the Supreme Court decision comes ahead ofelections next year. Since the suspension of Article 370, Indian authorities have curbed mediafreedoms and public protests in a drastic curtailment of civil liberties. Both India and Pakistan claim the Himalayan former kingdom in full and thenuclear-armed rivals have fought two wars over the region. India blames Pakistan for backing the militants, a charge Islamabad denies,saying it only supports a Kashmiri struggle for the right to self-determination.

Ask Amy: Parents struggle to handle child’s school stress
His two reading teachers have said that he is disrespectful and does not participate enough in class. His other teachers say he is kind and helpful, while also being a bit too talkative, but they say he is on track and doing well. We want to help solve the issue with his reading teachers, but can’t seem to get straight answers. He comes home crying sometimes because his reading teachers seem to react so negatively to him. It is ironic (to say the least) that his reading teachers communicate so poorly.

His length and positioning got into Michigan State passing lanes as he intercepted a pair of passes in the early minutes. In the halfcourt, the Spartans’ patient slash-and-kick attack set up clean enough looks for them to shoot 47.1% from deep, but it didn’t come easily with Nebraska playing dogged perimeter defense. Nebraska, leading for much of the second half, regrouped, composed itself and executed.

Arsonists torch bus in Motijheel ahead of BNP blockade
Unidentified arsonists have set fire to Shilpa Bank’s staff bus in Dhaka’s Motijheel. “The bus was already moved from the spot after the locals doused the fire,” he added. According to Belal Hossain, an inspector of Motijheel Police Station, some seats of the bus were damaged in the fire. The BNP has been staging hartals, or shutdowns, and transport blockades since the party’s Oct 28 rally, which ended in clashes with police. The fire service has reported 263 vehicles have been set ablaze so far across the country amid growing tensions prior to the Jan 7 elections.

Judgment on rule over appointing 285 differently abled candidates in primary schools Jan 14
DHAKA, Dec 11, 2023 (BSS) - The High Court today set January 14 for pronouncing judgment on rule issued over giving 285 differently abled candidates appointment as assistant teacher in government primary schools as per 10 percent quota for them. "Hearing concluded and judgment on January 14 in 2024," said a High Court division bench comprising Justice Naima Haider and Justice Kazi Zinat Hoque after holding hearing on rule issued over four separate writ petitions filed in this regard. Advocate Mohammad Siddiq Ullah Miah moved the pleas before the court, while advocate Muntasir Uddin Ahmed stood for Directorate of Primary Education. "The petitioners applied for the post of assistant teacher under quota for differently abled candidates following a recruitment notification of Directorate of Primary Education on October 18, 2020. The lawyer further said 285 candidates later filed four separate writ petitions and after holding hearing on the plea, the High Court issued the rule.
