Beatrice Co-op swimming's Avery Baumann qualified for finals in two events while two relay teams will be competing in consolation races on Saturday. Baumann's 50-freestyle preliminary time of 24.48 was sixth best, which qualifies her for Saturday's finals. Baumann also had a sixth best time of 53.16 in the 100-freestyle, which qualifies her for finals. In the finals on Saturday, Baumann will be competing with the other seven fastest preliminary times. Breeden was also a member of both state qualifying relay team for the BNFF boys.

DHAKA, Feb 24, 2024 (BSS) - Three madrasa students were killed in a motorcycle accident in Dakshinkhan Ashiyan City area here on Friday night. He said that three students were going to their destination on a motorcycle around 7pm on Friday. Omar Faruk was driving the motorcycle. The OC said that among the three, Rabiul died on the spot. Faruk was taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for better treatment where on-duty doctor declared him dead around 10pm on that day.

Saudi Arabia to fine up to 50,000 riyals for performing Hajj without permitsDHAKA, Feb 24, 2024 (BSS) - Saudi Arabia has warned visitors and residents against participating in the upcoming Hajj season 2024 without obtaining necessary permits, according to the Gulf News. Collaborating with the General Directorate of Passports, Saudi authorities have established severe consequences for individuals found to be violating Hajj regulations. The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah stressed that performing Hajj without obtaining necessary permits is illegal and attracts a fine of 50,000 Saudi riyals. Additionally, individuals caught transporting pilgrims without proper permits will also be slapped with a fine of up to 50,000 Saudi riyals. Expatriates found guilty of such violations will be jailed for six months, followed by deportation from Saudi Arabia.

Staff Reporter :A mobile court awarded two years imprisonment to a fake doctor and also fined him and his accomplice Tk one lakh each in the city’s Rampura area on Monday. The convicted persons have been identified as Abdul Quaiyum, 30, and Md Mukhlesur Rahman, 45. Rapid Action Battalions’ (Rab-3) Executive Magistrate AHM Anwar Pasha passed the order after arresting them from the ‘Heroshaky Pharmacy’, sources said. They added that the pharmacy owner Mukhlesur Rahman used to send for Abdul Quaiyum when any patient came to his pharmacy. He also used to introduce Quiym as a women and child specialist doctor.
