As the $10.6 million construction project nears completion, there’s been a delay in opening the new and improved Fanny Bridge. Opening of the new Fanny Bridge has been delayed Victoria Mastrocola/Tahoe Daily TribuneThe original, over 90-year-old, Fanny Bridge, previously projected to open in December 2025, is being replaced with a new single-span bridge, featuring bike lanes and sidewalks, aiming to match the appearance of the old one. Pre-cast concrete abutments were installed on the north and south ends of the river. Project partners included the Office of Federal Lands Highway, Central Federal Lands (CFLHD), Federal Highway Administration, California Department of Transportation (Caltrans), Tahoe City Public Utility District (TCPUD), Tahoe Regional Planning Agency (TRPA), and the Tahoe Transportation District (TTD).
