PSE warns vs blockchain schemesMANILA, Philippines — The Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE) has warned investors against blockchain schemes, saying its name is even being used to solicit investments from the public. In a recent circular, the PSE said it received reports that an individual has been going around representing herself as a member of a project team established by PSE for blockchain digital currency. The individual is soliciting investments and inviting people to create an account through the supposed project team’s website. According to the PSE, the individual guarantees investors hefty returns of 20 to 30 percent or $1,000 to $2,000 daily. Both the PSE and the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) have been consistently warning the public against fraudulent investment schemes.

Lacson slams ‘global coalition’ in PNPMANILA, Philippines — Sen. Panfilo Lacson expressed concern yesterday over a supposed “global coalition” in the Philippine National Police (PNP) that he said may be used for partisan politics. Lacson questioned the purpose of the “Global Coalition of Lingkod Bayan Advocacy Support Groups and Force Multipliers,” which was launched last June 25 by the PNP’s Community Relations unit. “Why do we need global force multiplier when the PNP deals with internal threats? This looks like a tool for politicking by the PNP’s community relations arm,” he said. Lacson earlier said Maj. Gen. Rhodel Sermonia, then director of the PNP Police Community Relations unit, should explain his involvement in activities involving the gathering of data, including email addresses and phone numbers.

Indian paramilitary troopers stand guard near the entrance of the Zojila tunnel under construction which connects Srinagar to the union territory of Ladakh, at Baltal, some 93 km northeast of Srinagar, on September 28, 2021. LADAKH: India's army chief has said China is sending troops to their disputed border in "considerable numbers," prompting a matching deployment by New Delhi in a development he called a "concern." Tensions have been high between the nuclear-armed neighbors following a deadly border battle in June last year in the strategically important Galwan River valley in India's Ladakh region, near Tibet. Gen. Manoj Mukund Naravane told reporters in Ladakh on Saturday that the Chinese troop presence along the 3,500-kilometer (2,200-mile) border had increased in "considerable numbers" and it was a "matter of concern." Local media reported last week, citing unnamed sources, that nearly 100 Chinese troops had crossed the border into Uttarakhand state for several hours in late August.
