MANILA, Philippines — Manila City Vice Mayor Honey Lacuna on Wednesday filed her certificate of candidacy (COC) for mayor in the upcoming 2022 elections. Lacuna filed her COC together with her running mate Manila Third District Rep. Yul Servo-Nieto who will run for vice mayor, at 9:34 a.m. ADVERTISEMENT“Gumawa po tayo ng kasaysayan sa Lungsod ng Maynila,” Lacuna said in a speech during a brief event before her COC filing. In 2016, she ran and won as vice mayor with former Mayor Joseph Estrada as a running mate.

For October, the Treasury looks to raise P200 billion from the sale of debt papers.

Number of ASF-hit barangays now 69MANILA, Philippines — The number of barangays with recorded active cases of African swine fever (ASF) reached 69 as of the end of September, the Department of Agriculture (DA) reported yesterday. Figures presented by Agriculture Assistant Secretary Noel Reyes showed that these barangays are located in 29 municipalities in 13 provinces. On Sept. 10, the Bureau of Animal Industry reported that there were 41 barangays, mostly in Ilocos region, affected by the ASF. On Monday, Agriculture Secretary William Dar said the DA could receive an additional budget of P4 billion for its programs aimed at fighting the ASF next year. “We are hopeful that next year, there is an indication that we will be given P4 billion to fight ASF much more,” Dar said.

Smishing occurs when mobile users receive text messages that trick them to click on links to malicious websites and give sensitive information. Given the reports received on smishing, the NPC is reminding the public to be vigilant against cybersecurity attacks.
