Bohol Gov. Arthur Yap files COC for reelection

CEBU CITY — Tropical Depression Lannie has left two persons dead due to drowning on Monday. The Carcar City disaster management office found Encabo’s body past 11 a.m. Tuesday.

The COVID-19 pandemic has, however, added a never before seen dimension in how the national government should treat senior citizens. In August, the World Health Organization (WHO) expressed concern over the “unacceptable” low number of vaccinated senior citizens in the Philippines. UN cited “distressing reports” detailing instances of neglect “or mistreatment” of senior citizens. To address and prevent these among Filipino senior citizens, the NCSC launched a week-long social media campaign dubbed as “Todo Pito” Campaign.

Macalintal wants candidates withdrawing to favor substitutes DQ’d
MANILA, Philippines — Aspirants for national posts who merely filed their certificate of candidacy (COC) for substitution should be declared a “nuisance candidate” and disqualified, said an election lawyer on Tuesday. According to Macalintal, this is stated under Section 69 of the Omnibus Election Code. 8 applications for COVID-19 vaccine clinical trials so far approved — DOST
MANILA, Philippines — The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has so far approved eight applications for COVID-19 vaccine clinical trials in the country, while six other applications are still being reviewed, the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) said Tuesday. Their applications were approved in December 2020 and January 2021, respectively. Recruitment is ongoing for the clinical trials of WestVac, Shenzhen, and Livzon, while Inovio Pharmaceuticals is finalizing the proposed trial sites, according to DOST. “As soon as the DOST, DOH, and the Philippine Solidarity Trial Vaccine Team (SVT) receive final instructions from WHO for the global launching, the clinical trial implementation in the Philippines under the SVT will officially start,” the DOST also said. Marcos on Tuesday took an oath as chairman of a political party that had earlier nominated him as its presidential candidate. Three Vatican Swiss Guards resign after COVID-19 vaccination request–report
ZURICH — Three members of the Vatican Swiss Guards, the elite colorfully dressed corps that protects the pope, have decided to resign rather than be vaccinated against COVID-19, Swiss newspaper Tribune de Geneva reported. Following the Holy See’s implementation of new COVID-19 measures, three Swiss guards have departed on a “voluntary” basis, a spokesperson for the corps said, according to the paper. DOLE distributes 224 motorboats to Cagayan fishermen
MANILA, Philippines — A total of 224 motorboats were distributed to 672 fishermen in 12 coastal towns of Cagayan Province, according to the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) on Tuesday. Tropical cyclone "Lionrock" to develop this Thursday
A low pressure zone is expected to develop into a tropical cyclone this Thursday, and would be named “Lionrock” after Hong Kong's iconic mountain. A broad area of low pressure over the southern part of the South China Sea is forecast to develop into a tropical cyclone, and edge closer to the vicinity of Guangdong's western coast and Hainan island, Hong Kong's observatory predicted. Its counterpart in Taiwan forecasts that the tropical cyclone could develop as soon as the early hours of Thursday. According to local forecasts, there will be strong wind and thunderstorms from Friday. Such wind will reach the level of tropical cyclone warning signal number three, which means strong wind blowing with a sustained speed of 41 to 62 kilometers per hour.
