The Chief Secretary for Administration John Lee Ka-chiu will take charge of tackling fake news and safeguarding cyber security, says Hong Kong leader Carrie Lam Cheng Yuet-ngor during her 2021 Policy Address. Speaking at Legco on Wednesday, Lam said the SAR has spared no effort to fulfill its responsibility to prevent, suppress and punish acts that endanger national security in accordance with the law. However, she said there is still a substantial amount of work to be done by the HKSAR government to safeguard national security in a comprehensive manner. “Issues which need to be addressed include combating fake news and safeguarding cyber security, the Chief Secretary for Administration will co-ordinate the relevant work,” said Lam.
