But what is desired are efforts to normalise the situation and that too within the framework of law and the Constitution. The statement from the military spokesman that there is no possibility of imposing martial law in the wake of violent protests was quite reassuring. This is soothing to hear and is a great relief, as a strong and impregnable military is sine qua non for Pakistan’s stability and security. With the military sticking to its job of ensuring security and the courts dilating their piece of mind, it’s time for an agitating opposition on the streets and the sitting government to watch their steps. Known for its political bargaining skills, the party symbol of the IUML is a ladder. In the 2019 Lok Sabha polls, the party contested two seats which they won with ease. And this act of succumbing to the IUML by the Congress, came under attack from several quarters. For long, the IUML has been contesting two Lok Sabha seats and this time those in the know of things say that they will seek two more seats and settle for one. So the coming days will reveal if the IUML will lean its ‘ladder’ towards the Left,” said the political analyst.

Democracy plays a vital role in the development of the system, but the current politics in our country lacks motivation. There is a tug of war between the government and opposition parties, and the public is living below the poverty line. High inflation has made the lives of people miserable, leading some to commit suicide. Due to high inflation, the crime rate is increasing rapidly, along with poverty, hunger, malpractice, and corruption. Economically, our country is weak as the price of the dollar is increasing rapidly.

In the WTO, China’s actual special and differential treatment is much lower than the average level of developing countries. China’s status as a developing nation, meanwhile, is well-founded and widely recognized, the spokesperson said. In 2021, China’s per capita national income ranked 68th in the world, while its human development index ranked 79th, on par with that of other major developing countries. China is a developing country with a solid basis in international law and has been accepted by the international community at large, and cannot be deprived of its developing country status, Wang stressed. For a long time, China has fought side by side with developing countries in Asia, Africa and Latin America for national liberation movements and supported each other in promoting national development, vividly demonstrating the meaning of “true friendship is shown in times of adversity.” China will always work with developing countries to strive for common rights and interests and safeguard shared benefits, Wang said.

The federal cabinet on Friday, while endorsing the statement of the Pakistan Army spokesperson, called for no leniency against those involved in the organised violence against the state, Constitution, and law, besides hurting the nation's dignity, following the arrest of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan in a corruption case on May 9. The cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, also called for making such elements an example by taking strict action against them under the Constitution and the law. The meeting expressed concerns over the situation in the country, observing that through such violence the leader of a "miscreant and foreign-funded" party had inflicted damage to Pakistan which the arch-enemy even could not do during the last 75 years. The meeting expressed solidarity with the law enforcement agencies and made it clear that they stood by them for action against those creating lawlessness. The cabinet expressed concern over the "interference" by the chief justice in an "open and shut" case of corruption and corrupt practices which led to the arrest of Imran as per the law.
