The American government, through the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR), has also improved access to HIV treatment across Nigeria. Our key partnerships with the national and state governments, UNAIDS and Global Fund were instrumental in determining what systems and strategy we needed to gain traction and outpace. Also speaking, UN Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator in Nigeria, Mathias Schmale, commended Nigeria’s strong leadership and commitment to the fight against several pandemics, including HIV and COVID-19. Schmale observed that the New Dawn publication chronicles more than 150 people who contributed, fought or experienced evolution of the response and also depicts the role played by the government and various key stakeholders, including development partners, people living with HIV, civil society and private sector. Director General, National Agency for the Control of AIDS (NACA), Dr. Sani Aliyu, said the publication confirms what could be achieved, “when we come together.”

By press time, the name of a former governor of Bornu State, Kashim Shettima resonated among possible choices as Tinubu’s running mate. Thus, we feel it would be rational for a northern Christian, especially from the marginalized North-Central geo-political zone to be a running mate. Sani opined that the former Speaker, House of Representatives, Honourable Yakubu Dogara fits the bill to be Tinubu’s running mate. Also, a group of APC stakeholders, led by Aliu Adamu has asked leadership of the party and APC Northern governors to shelve the idea of a Muslim-Muslim ticket. It asked the party to surrender itself to ensuring that the running mate to its standard-bearer is a Christian.

This saying is not far from the truth, as the importance and health benefits of water to all living organisms cannot be overemphasized. Water helps to regulate the earth’s temperature and equally regulates the temperature of the human body. About 70.9% of the earth is covered by water and the average human body is made up of 55%-65% water. Despite their daily use of water, most people are still oblivious to the health benefits of water and how it can be maximized. From the foregoing, it is apparent that the health benefits of water to the human body system are limitless.

WHILE the world basks in the euphoria of relative recovery from the scourge of Covid-19 pandemics, it faces yet another trauma of belligerence in Europe – sanction and counter-sanction between Europe and Russia respectively. Mutually and unarguably, the epicenter of globalisation is trade liberalisation between countries in all continents of the planet earth. Its wealth creation might cease marginally; Europe has the choice to procure the black gold from other world suppliers, especially from countries in the OPEC bloc. Russia too is saying, “Hey Guys, to hell with your petrodollar, with or without you, Europe, I, Russia, will survive. Having said this, Europe should be magnanimous enough to defreeze Russia’s bilateral trade credit of $85 bn held in various banks across Europe while Russia, on its part, follows suit by repudiating the trade decree slammed on Europe.
