The connected lines have largely been activated by the mobile network operators (MNOs), which include MTN, Airtel, Globacom and 9mobile. The commission said 36 VAS operators were responsive to the 2021 Year End Network Data questionnaires that it administered. Some of these VAS operators include Gistme Communications Limited; Vastitude Technologies Limited; TXT Light Power Solutions Limited and Payvantage Limited. Digital Nigeria (Vodacom Business Africa Limited); IP Integrated Solution Limited; the Outsource Company limited; Alvoice Solutions Limited and Vas2Nets Technologies Limited. The new report, ‘Greening digital companies: Monitoring emissions and climate commitments’, documents the greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and energy use of 150 of the world’s leading tech companies.

Despicable reign of jungle justice
Since the gruesome murder of Deborah Samuel Yakubu, the rising spate of jungle justice in the country has taken an alarming dimension suggestive of imminent anarchy if not urgently addressed. No one seems to trust law enforcement agencies, most especially the police and the judiciary, for proper dispensation of justice. Moreover, carriers of jungle justice have no locus standi in law to dispense justice in the manner they have so appropriated. Besides the perceptible weakness in prosecution, the resurgence in jungle justice attests to the failure of civic education. To forestall future cases of jungle justice, residents’ associations and community development associations should be encouraged by their local government or on their own should set up law enforcement, enlightenment and security committees under the guidance of law enforcement officers to check the excesses of misguided elements who are prone to carry out jungle justice.

Or is it a matter of distrust for or supposed inferiority of South West Muslims? It is still the same elite, who throw up these bankrupt theories to create friction where there should be none. It is now beyond any debate that the majority ethnic groups must put their acts together in managing the tendentious scenarios playing out regarding the 2023 general elections. And for God’s sake this has nothing to do with the supposed political sagacity of any region over another; no. There is absolutely nothing in Tinubu and Atiku tickets to compare them with June 12.

The harrowing fate of vulnerable Nigerians
Sir: In 2011, the United Nations introduced the concept of International Widows’ Day to ensure that widows are treated equally to other women in society. International Widows’ Day 2022 is observed to highlight the voices of widows and to take steps towards the recognition of their basic rights. However, while the global community celebrates this day, back here in Nigeria, there are wanton violations of women particularly the widows and children’s rights in the name of culture. The VAPP provides a legislative and legal framework for the prevention of all forms of violence against vulnerable persons, especially women and girls. Rather, they now assume a high ground they do not understand, leaving the masses that initially depended on them confused.

Tinubu travels to France amid running mate controversy
The presidential flagbearer of the All Progressives Congress, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, on Monday, left the country for France. Tinubu departed Nigeria shortly after he held a closed-door meeting with the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.) The PUNCH reported that the northern governors of the APC from the North-West and North-East were divided over the choice of a suitable running mate for the party’s presidential candidate, Tinubu. The APC had submitted the name of a party chieftain in Katsina State, Ibrahim Masari, to the Independent National Electoral Commission as its surrogate running mate. Masari is a serving board member of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies in Kuru, Plateau State.

Sadly, it was gathered that many of the few dialysis machines at the two biggest kidney treatment centres in Kano are not functioning. Similarly, it was revealed that at the Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital, only eight of 20 dialysis machines work at the moment, and many patients suffering from CKD wait for more than 10 hours to get dialysis. He said:“We used to have up to 20 dialysis machines, but because of inadequate funding and other challenges at the moment we don’t have more than 5 normal machines that are functioning. “Here we have about four functional dialysis machines and two are about to be repaired.

Fayemi moves to stop roadside trading, indiscriminate waste disposal
The Ekiti State Governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, on Monday, gave a seven-day ultimatum to roadside traders at Ọja Oba and other strategic places in Ado Ekiti, the state capital, to relocate to Agric Olope and Awedele markets within the metropolis or face being prosecuted. Fayemi, who expressed displeasure at the indiscriminate disposal of refuse on the dual carriage roads in the state capital, said that enforcement agencies and mobile courts would be instituted in critical places to arrest and immediately prosecute defaulters effectively from July 4, 2022. This is 11 O’clock, all the rubbish dropped in the median of the dual carriageway are still seating there as I speak. “I called this meeting, particularly about the problem at Oja Oba. I will give one week till July 4 for every single space around Oja Oba to be cleared.

Emirates to operate extra flights for upcoming Hajj season

NDLEA uncovers biggest Indian hemp farm in Imo | The Guardian Nigeria News - Nigeria and World News
The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has discovered and destroyed two hectares of land used for the cultivation of Cannabis sativa, otherwise called Indian hemp, in Imo State. A source said the agency began a manhunt forthe owner and other operators of the farm, which was described as the largest Indian hemp farm ever discovered in the state. “On 26th May, 2022, operatives of the NDLEA in Imo State raided a Cannabis farm in Umuagu, Umuguma in Umuguma Community in Owerri. Also, suspects were arrested at the farm which is the biggest Indian hemp farm ever in Imo State,” the source said. He stressed that the activities of drug peddlers in Imo State has become so alarming and increasingly becoming sophisticated among the younger segments of the state population.

2023: Reject APC, PDP, they’ve failed, Kwankwaso tells Nigerians
