Ekweremadu’s organ trafficking case suffers setback, court adjourns
The Central Criminal Court popularly known as Old Bailey, United Kingdom, has reportedly said that the plea and trial hearing of former Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, and his wife, Beatrice over organ trafficking scheduled for Monday, will not hold. Recall that Ekweremadu and his wife, on July 23, 2022, were being charged with Dr Obinna Obeta, on allegation of wanting to make payment for the procurement of an organ for their daughter, Sonia, from one David Nwamini. The allegation led to the detention of Ekweremadu in a UK prison after the June 23 arrest. In a report by Guardian.ng, the court said it will not be sitting due to the non-availability of Sonia, whose case was established. The report added, “the court official didn’t categorically say whether the Ekweremadus’ sickly graduate daughter, Sonia, is now a defendant in the case, for which her parents were arrested.

Olowu to battle Shinima for WBO title
National and West Africa welterweight champion, Taiwo Olowu (14-1-0) will be making a bid to claim the belt of current WBO Africa welterweight champion, Charles Shinima (14-0-0) of Namibia. The two fighters will meet in arguably the biggest fights in Africa in 2022 on October 29 in Namibia. Olowu will be challenging the undefeated Shinima for the WBO Africa Welterweight Title in a fight that promises to keep fans on the edge of their seats. Edo man battles facial tumour, family seeks help
An Edo State resident, Blessing Monday, has cried out over the deteriorating health of her father,Michael, currently suffering from a facial tumour. Speaking with our correspondent via phone call, the 22-year-old noted that the pains worsened, and her father’s face started swelling gradually. Giving details on the development of the illness, Blessing said, “We’ve been taking care of him since the pain started. Peterside knocks NNPC over waste, poor business model

Quadri battles Kallberg in WTT opener
Reigning African table tennis champion, Quadri Aruna, will begin his quest to win the second World Table Tennis European Summer Series 2022 when he takes on Anton Kallberg in the round of 32 at the Tap Seac Multisport Pavilion, Macao, China, The PUNCH reports. Kallberg is currently ranked 20th in the world, while Quadri is six steps ahead of the Swedish table tennis player. Mobility firm launches services
LoadMoto Technologies Limited has unveiled LoadMoto, a ride hailing and delivery app. According to the firm, it would accommodate vehicles in perfect conditions, despite their years of manufacturing. It also stated that it would accommodate motorbikes (for delivery service), cars, buses, Keke Marwa; mini bus, and vans. Speaking with the media, Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer of the firm, James Jegede, said there would be opportunities for drivers and riders to get more services anytime.
