France to make abortion a constitutional right after senate vote
Despite opposition from some conservative members, the upper chamber voted by 267 votes to 50 to back the constitutional change. The lower house in 2022 had approved enshrining the “right” to an abortion, while the Senate last year was in favour of adding the “freedom” to resort to the procedure. However before the full vote, a Senate committee on Wednesday rejected motions from the right to amend the text of the proposed revision. “If I vote against it, my daughters will no longer come for Christmas,” said one woman senator who asked to remain anonymous. A survey by French polling company IFOP in November 2022 found 86% of French people supported making abortion a constitutional right.

PM Modi flags off first indigenous hydrogen fuel cell ferry
Prime Minister Narendra Modi flagged off India’s first indigenously built hydrogen fuel cell ferry boat in virtual mode here on February 28 (Wednesday). The vessel has been built at the Cochin Shipyard. The pilot vessel is a 24-metre catamaran which can carry 50 passengers with fully air-conditioned passenger space. US President Joe Biden is doing everything he can to improve the process related to the sought-after H-1B visa, Green Card backlog and other issues related to the country's legal immigration system, the White House has said. The H-1B visa is a non-immigrant visa that allows US companies to employ foreign workers in speciality occupations that require theoretical or technical expertise. A new organisational account is required to participate in the H-1B Electronic Registration Process starting in March 2024, the USCIS said. The passport or travel document provided must be the one the beneficiary, if or when abroad, intends to use to enter the US if issued an H1B visa. The USCIS encourages all individuals involved in the H1B registration and petition filing process to attend these sessions.
