Gunmen opened fire at a synagogue, an Orthodox church and a police post in attacks across two cities in Russia's North Caucasus region of Dagestan on Sunday, killing an Orthodox priest and at least 15 police officers, the region's head said. Russian state news agencies cited the National Anti-Terrorist Committee as saying that five of the gunmen had been killed. DAYS OF MOURNINGJune 24-26 have been declared days of mourning in Dagestan, Melikov said, with flags lowered to half-staff and all entertainment events cancelled. About 125 kilometres (75 miles) south of Makhachkala, gunmen attacked a synagogue and a church in Derbent, home to an ancient Jewish community and a UNESCO World Heritage site. Authorities were quoted as saying that both the synagogue and church were ablaze, and that two attackers had been killed.

It is in this case that the US Supreme Court held that disgorgement is a penalty in the context of Section 246215 of the Securities Exchange Act, 1934. The SAT set aside this disgorgement order and held that the actions of NSE in not complying with a SEBI Circular would invite a penalty and not a disgorgement order. However, SAT’s interpretations as well as the SEBI Act indicates it to be an equitable remedy and not a penalty. ConclusionFrom the above discussion, it is clear that disgorgement is seen more as a compensatory and equitable remedy than as a penalty in India.

CDSCO Finds 50 Drugs Manufactured in India to Be of Sub-Standard Quality
New Delhi: The Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation (CDSCO) has found that 50 lifesaving drugs produced in India – including some extremely common ones like Paracetamol 500 mg and some vitamin and calcium tablets – were of sub-standard quality. Hindustan Times has reported that 22 of these drugs are manufactured in Himachal Pradesh. The CDSCO took samples from the market for testing from Waghodia (Gujarat), Solan (Himachal Pradesh), Jaipur (Rajasthan), Haridwar (Uttarakhand), Ambala, Indore and Hyderabad, among other locations. The Paracetamol 500 mg pills found to be sub-standard were manufactured by Askon Healthcare in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh, Livemint reported. “The failed samples of medicines manufactured in Himachal include medicines related to throat infection, high blood pressure, cancer, pain, bacterial infection, ulcer, cough, allergy, virus infection, acidity, painkiller, itching, and fever.
