While traditional hybrid vehicles use gas to turn the wheels, a new crop of cars are burning it exclusively to charge a large onboard battery. It’s a strategy one might expect from an 8-year-old’s brainstorm, and it’s not a particularly efficient solution or a cheap one. The large-format truck will travel 145 miles on a 92 kWh battery, enough to cover most daily commutes and then some. Bayerische Motoren Werke AG (BMW) brought the strategy mainstream in 2013 when it launched the i3, which offered a two-gallon, two-cylinder gas engine. “Ninety percent of the time or more, people probably won’t need more than 100 miles a day.”Range-extending vehicles offer auto executives another unique value: help to navigate the culture wars.

“I was watching the thermostat every morning be a little warmer than the previous warm morning. “I pretty quickly figured I didn’t like a hot dry climate,” Mote said. He erected special shade structure for them, added more workers to ease the load and urges them to hydrate. In Denver’s City Park, the swan-shaped pedal boat rental shop isn’t that busy because it’s beastly hot outside and those brave souls who do go out have to sit on hot fiberglass seats. There’s not much shade for the workers, “but we do hide in our little shack,” said employee Dominic Prado, 23.

Many patients instead are diagnosed based on symptoms and cognitive exams.Labs have begun offering a variety of tests that can detect certain signs of Alzheimer's in blood. But they only work in the earliest stages of Alzheimer's and proving patients qualify in time can be difficult. Blood testing was far more accurate, Lund University researchers reported Sunday at the Alzheimer's Association International Conference in Philadelphia. But there are studies underway testing possible therapies for people at high risk of Alzheimer's, and some include blood testing.

A museum celebrating the Mughals — otherwise, red-rag to Hindu nationalists — will be inaugurated next week. The Humayun’s Tomb World Heritage Site Museum in New Delhi has around 500 artefacts; many of them on long lease from the National Museum and the Delhi Fort Museum at Red Fort. And behind this giant effort is the Agha Khan Trust for Culture (AKTC). ADVERTISEMENTArchana Saad Akhtar, who is programme director of the AKTC, explained why Humayun, the second Mughal emperor, is the protagonist of the story this museum tries to tell. Colourful Mughal era tiles, gathered by Persian scholar S. M. Yunus Jaffery have been donated by an anonymous benefactor.

Economists and small industrialists say the conditions and procedures built into these schemes may create obstacles for effective implementation. “There is a bigger structural reason why the economy is not able to create jobs, and that is due to insufficient demand, caused by low consumption… and the lack of private investment. The need is to create formal jobs to keep up with the pace of the supply, which is not happening, as evidenced by the fact that the proportion of salaried workers has actually dropped slightly over the last five years. What else is needed to create jobs? If the urgent requirement is to stimulate demand by increasing consumption, another step could be to raise wages in MGNREGA, the rural jobs scheme, and create a similar employment guarantee scheme for urban workers, says Mr. Roychowdhury.

As the presidential campaign enters a critical final 100 day stretch, Republican nominee Donald Trump and his running mate, JD Vance, rallied supporters on Saturday in a state that hasn’t backed a GOP candidate for the White House since 1972. Trump spoke for more than an hour and a half to cheering crowds holding signs supporting police and calling for the deportation of migrants in the country illegally. He continued a pattern of escalating attacks against Harris on immigration and crime. “She has no clue, she’s evil,” Trump said, suggesting Harris had failed at her tasks related to the border as vice president.
