While Kwasi Afrifa admitted to being Ogyeedom Obranu Kwesi Atta VI’s former attorney, he refuted the latter’s claim of requesting and taking funds to bribe the Chief Justice. “He further informed me that the Chief Justice had demanded a bribe of US$5,000,000 for a successful outcome to his case and that he had already paid US$500,000 to the Chief Justice. After the said demand was made, Afrifa said he rather took a decision to refund the amount Ogyeedom Obranu Kwesi Atta VI paid him for handling his case. He said he wanted the payment in dollars because he was raising the remainder of the money to be paid the Chief Justice, and that currency was the currency of choice.

There is nothing that you can say that God is not interested in,” Badu Kobi stated. He added, “Now for the match which will happen tonight between Brazil and Argentina, Brazil will win. Argentina will not win, Messi is part of Argentina, he is a great footballer but the night is not for them, the night is for Brazil and Brazil will win this cup. Messi’s Argentina carried the night and left the Rio Maracana stadium as champions for the first time since 1993. Prophet Badu Kobi is remembered in football cycles for predicting that Hearts of Oak will win the Ghana Premier Leauge but his prophecies about politics have not gone well.

Business News of Sunday, 11 July 2021Source: reuters.comRich countries should reallocate at least US$30 billion of new money from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) towards investments in Africa to help countries battling the effects of coronavirus and climate change, four African finance ministers said. In an open letter to the leaders of the Group of 20 leading economies, finance ministers from Ghana, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Côte d’Ivoire and Nigeria also urged the rich nations to increase support for poorer countries’ COVID vaccination drive. The IMF has taken steps to implement a new US$650 billion allocation – the largest ever – of its reserve currency, so-called Special Drawing Rights (SDRs). “(This would) catalyse investments to Africa, reduce the liquidity premia on sovereign bonds offered by middle-income countries and incentivize green and sustainability-linked investments,” the letter said. “In June alone there was a 290 million shortfall in vaccine supply,” the finance ministers said.

Also, former president John Mahama has said the recommendation by the Ntiamoa-Baidu committee to pay cabinet-level salaries to the wives of president Nana Akufo-Addo and vice-president Mahamudu Bawumia, is captured “as part of the emoluments of the president and the vice-president”, adding: “This seems like an attempt to sneak” Mrs Akufo-Addo and Mrs Bawumia “into the article 71 officeholders’ group”. “This is clearly problematic”, the former president said in an article expressing reservations about the recommendation. “The challenge, however, is that the spouses of the president and vice-president are not captured among Article 71 Officeholders and, therefore, there is no legal or constitutional basis for it”, he said.
