The attention of the Ministry of Communications and Digitalisation (MoCD ) has been drawn to a social media report carried on the online portal “www.Ghanaweb.com” published on Tuesday, February 15, 2022, under the headline “Speaker-directs-govt-to-present-Airtel-Tigo-aquisition-deal-before-Parliament-for-approval”. The story suggests that the MoCD has been given a directive by the Speaker of Parliament to present the Airtel Tigo acquisition document to Parliament for approval. For the Records, the Speaker did not give any such directive. He merely made general comments to the Ministry of Finance. And we cannot depend on documents from those agencies as authentic documents to work with.

Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, has directed the government to put before parliament the agreement for acquisition of Airtel-Tigo. Mr Bagbin spoke on the back of the government's acquisition of Airtel-Tigo following the company’s financial challenges. As of today after one year, its not been done and we cannot depend on document from agencies as authentic document to work with," he emphasized. Speaker's comments come after Member of Parliament for Ningo-Prampram, Sam George accused the minister of failing to account for the agreement in the acquisition of Airtel-Tigo. Ursula Owusu-Ekufful added the agreement will only be presented to parliament when finalized with the Finance Ministry and the Attorney General.

This rite is performed to initiate their young girls into adulthood. During their stay, they used one of the many hills at the now resource reserve – (Mogo Hills) as a campsite for their young girls who were eligible to go through the puberty rites (Dipo). Assistant Manager of the Shai Hills Resource Reserve, Ishmael Otoo, explained on the People & Places show that the girls were camped at the site for about 6 months in the past. Ishmael also noted that the number of ladies who were housed on the hills at a time depended on the availability of ‘puberty-ripe’ girls. Ishmael further explained what the markings on the bodies of these young girls signify.

Nana Dubin Kwapong, personal assistant to Dome-Kwabenya Member of Parliament, Sarah Adwoa Safo, has disclosed that the MP will arrive in the country next week. In an interview with Joy News, Mr. Kwapong said although the MP was absent from the country, she was effectively discharging her constitutionally mandated duties. Mr. Kwapong further stated that Sarah Adwoa Safo was in support of the controversial E-levy contrary to the false impression being created by political detractors. Former Deputy Minister for Information under the erstwhile National Democratic Congress government, Felix Kwakye-Ofosu, has called out Second Lady of the State, Hajia Samira Bawumia following the arrest of Accra FM journalist, Bobie Ansah. But reacting to the development in a Twitter, Kwakye-Ofosu accused the second lady of having double standards and being a hypocrite. Mr. Ofosu shared a 2016 publication by GhanaWeb, in which the second lady during a campaign event, tagged then President John Dramani Mahama as corrupt. President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has ordered $5 million out of the total $6 million fine imposed on MAXAM Ghana Limited to be paid into the coffers of the Appiatse Support Fund. The Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Samuel Abu Jinapor on Monday announced the imposition of a $1 million administrative fine and an additional $5 against MAXAM. “By law, the One Million Dollars (US$1,000,000.00), which constitutes the administrative fine, forms part of the Internally Generated Funds (IGF) of the Minerals Commission, the regulator of the sector. The President has, therefore, directed that the additional Five Million Dollars (US$5,000,000.00), to be paid by Maxam to Government, be donated to the Appiatse Support Fund to support the reconstruction of the community. Accordingly, I have directed the Minerals Commission to ensure that the said Five Million Dollars (US$5,000,000.00) is paid to the Appiatse Support Fund, in accordance with the agreed terms of payment,” the minister said.
