The large majority of the audience were not born when Dan leaked the Pentagon Papers in 1971. To me, the fundamental point is that the United States achieved consensus that the Vietnam war had been a terrible mistake. An example was the Iraq War, clearly an illegal war of aggression in breach of the U.N. charter, sold on lies to the public. Lewis asked if there were names in the Pentagon Papers that would risk harm to them. Ellsberg replied he disagreed, Abrams had never had one minute of discussion with him or Assange.

Another prominent upstream oil company that has recognized Equatorial Guinea as an exploration hotspot is Kosmos Energy. Equatorial Guinea has already positioned itself as an active player in the global oil and gas industry, exporting oil and gas to international markets. Ethiopian Airlines plane at Bole Airport on a cloudy day earlier this month (Photo /borkena)Yonas Biru (PhD)Three days ago, I posted a blog titled “The Reason Behind Ato Girma Wake’s Termination.”The blog noted: “Two months ago, I predicted one potential source of foreign exchange to finance the PM’s Palace is taking loans from China collateralizing the Ethiopian Airlines. Two days ago, I speculated the reason behind Ato Girma’s termination is to transfer foreign exchange from the Ethiopian Airlines to the palace. Today, I learned the PM is in discussion with China to let them take over the Cargo business of the Ethiopian Airlines until Ethiopia pays its debt.”Following the blog, I was interviewed on Anchor Media by Messay Mekonnen. Second, my blog clearly says: “the PM is in discussion with China to let them take over the Cargo business of the Ethiopian Airlines until Ethiopia pays its debt.” But the response came from the Ethiopian Airlines? WITH YOUR SUPPORT, WE CAN DO MOREFederal authorities’ dismantling of regional paramilitaries has created an opportunity for al-Shabaab to strengthen its presence in Somali region. It should be recalled that Ethiopian forces repelled an al-Shabaab incursion in July 2022 after the group targeted some border towns in Somali region. Moreover, the Ethiopian military is already thinly dispersed and may be ineffective in remote and arid locations such as Somalia. The long-standing distrust between the Ethiopian military and the Somali people may play into the hands of al-Shabaab. A two-tiered security approach composed of a strong national army and federal police alongside robust and well-armed regional forces is preferable to the one Abiy envisions.

The Egyptian and Ethiopian presidents have been unable to reach a compromise over Nile water projects for several years. Egyptian president Abdel Fattah al-Sisi has caused a stir after he was pictured in a smiling handshake with the Ethiopian president just days after Addis Ababa announced the fourth filling of a controversial mega-dam project, compromising Egyptian water supplies. Sisi and his Ethiopian counterpart met on the sidelines of the New Global Financing Pact summit in Paris this week. Sisi added that the goal was “to reach a legal and binding agreement regarding the filling and operation of the Renaissance Dam”. While Ethiopia says the dam poses no threat to Egypt and Sudan, it has refused to sign a binding agreement regarding the operation of the dam.
