Chinese doctors provide free medical services in Ethiopia - Ethiopia
ADDIS ABABA, July 30 (Xinhua) — Chinese doctors on Sunday provided much-needed services to about 240 workers at the Eastern Industry Zone (EIZ), about 40 km south of Addis Ababa, the capital of Ethiopia. A total of 36 doctors from the 24th batch of the Chinese medical team in Ethiopia, the ninth batch of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army Medical Team in Ethiopia, as well as the Chinese-invested Addis Ababa Silk Road General Hospital participated in the event. The free medical treatment was conducted by Chinese doctors who specialize in neurology and neurosurgery, internal medicine, orthopedics, cardiology, ophthalmology, dentistry, urology, gynecology, as well as traditional Chinese medicine, among others. Mame Yadeto who works at a textile factory in the industrial part said “the free medical treatment is very important for us. “We will provide our support for the Ethiopian people and do our best to provide the best medical services for them,” he added.

News: Gov’t set to introduce new fertilizer procurement system amid ongoing supply crisis
Government officials have indicated that this new system has been introduced in response to the instability of the current system. “The current fertilizer purchase system is volatile,” Girma Amente (PhD), minister of agriculture, said during a press briefing held on 29 July, 2023. Unlike the current arrangement of one-year agreements with suppliers, the newly proposed fertilizer procurement system will allow for the purchase and supply of fertilizer for a three-year period, according to the Minister. The global fertilizer trade, which has already been affected by economic constraints before 2021, has now been further impacted by the global energy crisis resulting from the Russia-Ukraine conflict. Nigeria: Tinubu appoints special investigator to probe Central Bank
Nigeria's President Bola Tinubu has appointed a Special Investigator to probe the activities of the country's apex bank the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and other related entities. In a letter dated 28 July and signed by the president, Jim Obazee’s appointment was stated with immediate effect and described as in furtherance of President Tinubu’s administration’s anti-corruption fight. The special investigator Jim Obazee is to report directly to the president. It comes amid the investigation and probe of former CBN governor Godwin Emefiele who was suspended by President Tinubu in June. He was granted bail and subsequently remanded at a correctional centre.
