Ethiopians and friends of Ethiopia have celebrated the New Year at the Ethiopian Embassies in various parts of the world. Ethiopians in the United States, United Kingdom, Djibouti, United Arab Emirates, Netherlands, Japan, South Sudan and others have celebrated the 2016 Ethiopian New Year in various ways. During the occasions, Ethiopian Ambassadors in these countries have extended New Year best wishes to all Ethiopians. A Muslim father in Maryland says Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) is holding religious students "hostage" by refusing to allow parents to opt children out of controversial content related to gender. Kareem Monib, 45, is the father of four sons and has lived in Maryland for 20 years. Schools in Maryland must provide parents or guardians the opportunity to view all instructional materials before use. Earlier this year, a local Montgomery County city councilwoman, Kristin Mink, accused some Muslim parents of working with "White supremacists." They plan to expand beyond Maryland and set up religious councils while organizing parents nationwide.

New Delhi: Kenya’s 10,000m World Championships silver medalist Daniel Ebenyo and 2017 Delhi half-marathon victor Almaz Ayana (Ethiopia) will headline the preliminary elite athletes in the men’s and women’s categories at the 18th Vedanta Delhi Half Marathon, a World Athletics Gold Label Road Race, here on October 15. The USD 268,000 prize money will see tens of thousands of amateurs join the world’s best elites on one of the fastest courses in the world. Ebenyo, the World Championships silver medalist, who finished sixth in the World cross-country championships held in Bathurst (Australia) in early 2023 already posted a personal best time of 59:04 at the half-marathon distance last year in Manama. The timing is very close to the Delhi course record of 58:53 and hence is coming into the Delhi Half Marathon with high expectations. Mary Kathryn Mishler, 102, died Thursday, September 7, at Greencroft Health Care. She is survived by four sons, John (Phyllis) Mishler of Goshen, Robert (Carol) Mishler of Singers Glen, Virginia, Don (Nina Newburn) Mishler of Goshen, and Dennis (Pattie) Mishler of Brownsburg, Indiana; seven grandchildren, Nathan Mishler, Rob Mishler, Annie Springer, Mary Kathryn Mishler II, Jade Madrid, Jackie Brewer, and Andrew Mishler; three stepgrandchildren, Anna Parker, John and Lonnie Newburn; seven great-grandchildren, and three step-great-grandchildren. Dorsa and Mary helped to lay the foundation for the hospital in Nazareth, which remains in operation. Mary was an active and enthusiastic member of Prairie Street Mennonite Church for over seventy years. Our Mom, Mary Kathryn Diller Mishler, was a "force of nature."
