Those who kill people setting fire on train won't be spared: QuaderDHAKA, Dec 19, 2023 (BSS) - Awami League general secretary and road transport and bridges minister Obaidul Quader today said those who are responsible for killing four people including child by setting fire on moving train won't be spared. "The arson attack on moving train in Bangladesh was as like as those attacks are being carried out on Palestinians by Israeli forces. The arsonists won't get spared," he said while inaugurating a "victory procession" in front of IEB auditorium adjacent to the historic Suhrawardy Udyan here. Quader hoped the people will give their verdict on January 7 against the arson terrorism and corruption. The AL general secretary said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina raised voice against Israeli aggression and killing on Palestinians but BNP-Jamaat clique is keeping mum on the issue.

Rescuers in remote villages of northwest China dug through the rubble of collapsed homes on Tuesday after China's deadliest earthquake in years killed at least 118 people and injured hundreds more. DHAKA, Dec 19, 2023 (BSS) - Railways Minister Md Nurul Islam Sujan today said that the operations of trains will not stop in view of the sabotage activities. "The country' safe railway journey is being destabilized through sabotage and terrorist activities. Political terrorism and sabotage has posed a threat to safe rail operations, Sujan said, adding that in the name of political programmes, the communication system got disrupted except the railway. Three coaches of the train were burnt and four people died in the incident, Sujan added. On that day, two coaches of a commuter train were damaged severely, Sujan said, adding, Jamuna Express came under sabotage in a planned way at Sharishbari in Jamalpur on November 19.

DHAKA, Dec 19, 2023 (BSS) - A total of 91 eminent citizens, including a former chief justice, former bureaucrats, retired major generals and university teachers, today called for preventing ill-efforts being made to foil the January 7 general elections. In a joint statement, they said, as part of the democratic process, the 12th national elections is going to be held in the country in line with the constitution achieved through a long bloody struggle. The Election Commission (EC) and others concerned have been working to make the polls free, fair, peaceful and participatory but a vested quarter is trying to foil the elections, the citizens said. In continuation of that, unruly BNP men killed a cop in the capital on October 28 in the name of mass rally and even BNP workers carried out attack on the residence of the chief justice, they said, adding that the BNP-Jamaat men also burned a sleeping transport worker dead. The main aim of these sabotage was to halt the democratic progress of the country by foiling the next general elections, they said, calling upon the country's people to make the next polls a success by exercising their voting rights.

NEW DELHI, Dec 18, 2023 (BSS) -A total of 78 opposition members of parliament(MPs) both from Indian Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha, were suspended today forstaging protests seeking Home Minister Amit Shah's statement on the recentsecurity breach inside the parliament, reports said. The Rajya Sabha this evening suspended 45 MPs for the remainder of the WinterSession, barely hours after the Lok Sabha suspended 33 over the Opposition'sincessant protests demanding the statement of Indian home minister on lastweek's security breach inside parliament. Meanwhile, 14 opposition MPs had been suspended last week, also for demandingthe statement on the same issue.
