Police say they have arrested more than 3,000 people to date in connection with nearly 1,700 cases as part of its commitment to live up to public aspirations created in the aftermath of the Anti-discrimination Student Movement. The ouster of the Hasina government is the culmination of the anti-discrimination movement throughout July. Around 3,195 people were apprehended in these cases only in 13 days in October, the release read. GAIBANDHA, OCT 13, 2024 (BSS) - A woman and her cousin were killed in a motor bike accident at Dhonmundi area of Sherpur upazila under Bogura district this morning. The accident occurred when a speedy truck hit the motor bike riding by the women from behind leaving them dead on the spot. The deceased are- Nupur Akhter, 23, daughter of Nazrul Islam, at Bhabanipur village under Gidari union of Sadar upazila and her cousin Runa Akhter, 21, daughter of Abdur Rashid of the same village. After the accident, locals recued Rakibul, who was driving the bike, and admitted him to Shahid Ziaur Rahman Medical College, Bogura with injuries. Later, he was release from the hospital after taking treatment.
