Vietnamese, Russian power companies sign MoU at SPIEF 2023
ST PETERSBURG — Russia’s Rosseti power grid company and the National Power Transmission Corporation (EVNNPT), a subordinate company of the Vietnam Electricity (EVN) Group, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to resume their long-term strategic cooperation which was suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The signing ceremony took place on the sidelines of the 26th St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) in Russia. The two companies agreed to develop joint projects based on the capability of each side and the advancements of Rosseti. Additionally, Rosseti will assist EVNNPT in developing primary power transmission lines and transnational high-voltage power connections in the region using advanced technologies. To such end, EVNNPT needs to cooperate with global partners, including Rosseti, in various advanced fields.

Today, I’ll focus on Tầm Vị — perhaps, to some, a surprise addition to the list of acclaimed awardees. Thankfully, that is not an issue here at Tầm Vị. To that end, this is where I believe Tầm Vị has hit gold of the Michelin star variety. It would be too easy for a native or regular visitor to simply consider this high-end Vietnamese food. I trust that Tầm Vị will wear their Michelin star with pride, and I look forward to my next visit — if I’m able to grab a seat.

But it can be a challenge for victims of bullying to join this movement. News in March about a bullied student in Vinh City committing suicide has sparked the question of whether bullying really poses threats to the victim’s mental wellbeing, or did the student overreact. But the people who ask that question typically do not consider that the answer is, “They have, but they only received backlash against themselves.”In a society where mental wellbeing is still deemed as unnecessary, fighting for mental wellness is perceived as “dramatic” or “overreacting”. When it comes to school bullying, it is hard to find the one to take responsibility aside from the bullies themselves.

Hong Kong Int’l Travel Expo
The number of Hong Kong visitors to Vietnam is expected to rise in the second half of this year. Therefore, the carrier said it will increase its daily flights from Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City to Hong Kong to two from July. Within the framework of the expo, there will be workshops on tourist destinations and products, and tourism trends, thus helping recover Hong Kong’s tourism sector completely. Promote payment mechanism for natural ecosystem services in VietnamIt requires policymakers, corporations, individuals, and organizations proposing initiatives to promote ecosystem services, contributing to the regeneration and restoration of biodiversity and ecosystems in Vietnam. Although Vietnam has implemented "PES-like" initiatives for marine and wetland ecosystems, there is currently no comprehensive payment for ecosystem services for these environments. These recommendations include developing criteria and methods to assess national marine and wetland ecosystem services and supporting the assessment and evaluation of ecosystem services at the grassroots level. At the same time, It pilots the payment for ecosystem services for marine and wetland ecosystems, and refines policies and regulations on payment for natural ecosystem services, with a focus on marine and wetland ecosystems. The project aims to promote biodiversity conservation and sustainable use of ecosystem services to enhance Earth's resilience and human well-being.

Exhibition showcasing 32 photos with captions of the sea, rivers and mountains across all regions of Vietnam which were carved on the Nine Dynasty Urns (Photo: VNA)The urns have been positioned in the yard of the Hue imperial citadel ’s The To Mieu (Photo: VNA)– An exhibition named “The Vietnam land shown on the Nine Dynasty Urns ” was held at the Hue Imperial Citadel (Dai Noi) in the central province of Thua Thien-Hue on June 16.At the event, 32 photos with captions of the sea, rivers and mountains across all regions of Vietnam which were carved on the Nine Dynasty Urns ( Cuu Dinh in Vietnamese language) were on display.The bronze urns were cast in late 1835 and completed in early 1837 under the reign of King Minh Mang. They represent the unity and beauty of the country, as well as the aspiration for immortal existence of the Nguyen Dynasty, according to director of the Hue Monuments Conservation Centre Hoang Viet Trung.The urns, which remain intact, have been positioned in the yard of the citadel’s The To Mieu (To Mieu Temple), a place to worship the kings of the Nguyen Dynasty, since the date they were completed.The highest urn is 2.5 metres high while the shortest at 2.3 metres high. Each weighs up to 2,600 kg and has a name symbolising an emperor of the Nguyen Dynasty.Each urn was carved with 17 patterns featuring plants, animals, landscapes and places of Vietnam.The nine urns were recognised as national treasure in 2012. The Hue Monuments Conservation Centre has also been taking steps to seek UNESCO recognition of them as a world documentary heritage./.

Gov’t asks central bank to reduce rates in June
HÀ NỘI – The Government has asked the State Bank of Việt Nam to reduce regulatory interest rates and complete the allocation of credit limits this month with a focus on removing enterprises' difficulties in accessing credit. Accordingly, the central bank must introduce practical measures to lower rates, especially reducing regulatory rates in June, to support enterprises and residents to recover production and business. The credit growth in the first five months of this year was disappointingly low. The central bank set the credit growth target at 14-15 per cent, a little bit higher than 2022 which was at 14 per cent. During the past three months, the central banks cut regulatory rates three times.
