(Reuters) -ByteDance-owned TikTok Chief Executive Officer Shou Zi Chew has sought input on U.S. matters from Elon Musk, a close adviser to President-elect Donald Trump, the Wall Street Journal reported on Saturday citing people familiar with the matter. Chew initiated messages with the Tesla CEO in recent weeks and asked for his opinions on topics ranging from the incoming administration to potential tech policy, the report added. Elon Musk, TikTok, ByteDance and the Trump administration did not immediately respond to Reuters' requests for comments. ByteDance executives had been hedging their bets before the U.S. election, meeting with people close to Trump and with people close to Democratic nominee Kamala Harris, the report added. Trump, who unsuccessfully tried to ban TikTok in 2020, has said if elected in November he would not allow TikTok to be barred.

Trump's labor pick may turn GOP states into 'fiscal basket cases': WSJ editorial board
President-elect Donald Trump's nominee to oversee labor unions didn't sit well with Rupert Murdoch's prestigious newspaper the Wall Street Journal, whose editorial board lamented Trump's pick Friday night as a "regrettable choice." Chavez-DeRemer, the board said, "has backed union giveaways like the Pro Act, which are not 'cooperation.'" "Why would Mr. Trump want to empower labor bosses who oppose his economic agenda and spent masses to defeat him?" This, the board argued, would return the labor force to World War II era days, when strikes were "rampant" and labor mobility was more difficult. Putting Chavez-DeRemer in charge of the Labor Department, the Journal concluded, "will make labor bosses, not workers, more powerful again."

Trump picks Brooke Rollins to be agriculture secretary
WASHINGTON (Reuters) -U.S. President-elect Donald Trump has chosen Brooke Rollins, president of the America First Policy Institute, to be agriculture secretary. "As our next Secretary of Agriculture, Brooke will spearhead the effort to protect American Farmers, who are truly the backbone of our Country," Trump said in a statement. Department of Agriculture officials and staff negotiate trade deals, guide dietary recommendations, inspect meat, fight wildfires and support rural broadband, among other activities. The America First Policy Institute is a right-leaning think tank whose personnel have worked closely with Trump's campaign to help shape policy for his incoming administration. Trump has said he again plans to institute sweeping tariffs that are likely to affect the farm sector.

Eberflus thought Packers defensive lineman T.J. Slaton made contact with Bears long snapper Scott Daly immediately and that the referees should have thrown a flag. If officials rule that a defender illegally contacts the long snapper with his head down, it is a 15-yard unnecessary roughness call. While there was contact between Slaton and Daly, the NFL deemed Slaton’s contact legal, as players are allowed to contact the long snapper as long as his head is not down. The call instead would have been acknowledged as a missed call by the league, and the Bears would still be 4-6.
