Jayden Maiava brought quarterback chills back to the Coliseum on Saturday afternoon in leading USC to a 28-20 victory over underwhelming Nebraska. Maiava is good. He's one rushing touchdown good. And so, 11 days ago, he shed Miller Moss and buckled into a personal flotation device named Jayden Maiava. So, Jayden Maiava, welcome to Lincoln Riley's brave new USC football world.

The pollution was so bad that I went to the doctor, and he just said that, ‘you should move out of the city. You won’t be able to survive in this air.’ There’s a steroid nasal spray, allergy medicines, fever medicines. I can’t even go to the balcony to do yoga. I have not been able to meet friends because the doctor just advised me not to go out, which is obviously very heartbreaking. Like, I have to leave the city that I’ve grown up in just because of the air.

Something has to be done to resolve the border crisis. It might be advisable to deport criminals who are here illegally, but not all immigrants. The logistics are too complicated, and the cost would damage the nation’s economy. It’s a sweeping proposal, but it’s hard to say exactly how it would play out. VoteView Results

Emporia State University funneled secret payments to professors in the wake of breaking tenure agreements and firing 33 faculty members. That’s the simplest way to explain the findings issued last week in a Kansas Attorney General’s Office report. Recall that Emporia State refunded us $87.50 more than a year ago, saying their estimated cost was too high. Everything we’ve heard from Emporia State since it started defenestrating professors suggests that the institution wants to exclude the public and pursue a path of utmost secrecy. Through its opinion section, Kansas Reflector works to amplify the voices of people who are affected by public policies or excluded from public debate.

Pete Hegseth, President-elect Donald Trump’s pick for defense secretary, paid a woman who accused him of sexual assault to head off the threat of a baseless lawsuit, according to Hegseth’s lawyer. Hegseth was accused of sexual assault in 2017 after a speaking appearance at a Republican women’s event in Monterey, California, according to a statement released by the city. The person who reported the assault — whose name, age and sex were not released — had bruises on the right thigh, according to the city’s statement. The incident occurred sometime between 11:59 p.m. on Oct. 7 and 7 a.m. the following morning, according to the city’s statement. His first marriage ended in 2009, also after infidelity by Hegseth, according to court records.

But for diabetes and obesity drugs like Ozempic and Zepbound, known as GLP-1s, cheaper copycats emerged almost immediately. Eli Lilly is planning to further fuel demand with new consumer-focused advertising in the coming weeks. History will be kinder to him than Democrats currently are, let alone the voters, but that’s little consolation now. More than a week after the voters’ verdict, Democrats should stop the finger-pointing. When all votes are finally counted, Trump’s margin of victory will be two percentage points or less — the smallest since 1968. Democrats didn’t expect to keep their slim Senate majority even if Harris prevailed, and their candidates won in several states that she lost, limiting Republicans’ new majority. As annoying as Democrats’ squabbling is, it’s the sign of a healthy party to look inward after losses.
